this but unironically. Whiny ass kids in america think they have it so hard today. They have it harder in comparison to the post ww2 golden age, but that was never going to last. That's recency bias. What we've actually seen is not some hardest times in human history cope, it's just a reversion to the mean of normal human existence. The amount of crazy claims on here about this is eye opening. Faggots think they had it harder than europeans who lived through wars and shit, just LMFAO. Even if you limit it to just America, as recently as the GI Generation and the early Silents, they had it far tougher than now. Many of those people lived on farms in the depression. I'm old, they were my grandparents and that shit scarred them for life.

>>

it was literally inverse, back then you have infinite job options now you're either born on the farm and can't leave because if you do it will collapse. you could leave back then because your 5 other siblings will handle it while you use your sack to breadwin. psyop meme.

Why would you even want that? Today:

Better lower your standards, it's a competitive world. That means you can't afford rent? Well, guess you better flat-share even if that means you have no money or room for a family. It literally did work like that in the old days, why the fuck do you think the boomers motto is "happy wife, happy life", "shes the boss" and so on.

They are just going to nag you every waking minute, tell the whole town you have a small dick and suck in bed and make your life utter misery. You forget that you are basically locked up with her, she has a whole lifetime to repayx you in kind. The modern mind cannot comprehend that women were so good back then that there was almost never a need to break up. The concept itself didn't exists. Boomer 'Firm-Handshake'bullshit meets Zoom 'Muh Better Back Then' Nostalgiajerking. Doing back breaking farm work in the middle of nowhere with no prospects fucking sucks and there are no real job openings just bullshit ones. The truth was, is and shall always remain that it sucks to be at the bottom of the ladder and its fucking awesome to be at the top.

Whether that was being:
A) A serf taking shit from some lord who comes by and claims your daughter to rape as you slowly starve to death in the freezing cold until the 'miasma' rips your body apart over a season and you die in your thirties broken

B) You live in a rusted out shit kicker town clinging to a couple hours a week of work at the last factory cleaning carcinogenic shit out of a tank in the height of summer sweating your balls off then have to go to your second job working as a janitor at a diner with a sadistic boss asking you to clean the shit smeared on the walls by some degenerate and you end the day doing meth behind the Wendys to get enough energy to work all night in the city driving UberEats orders to gentrified girlbosses yells at you for fucking up their order between her OF and TikTok posts.

TL;DR: Life could, can now and can in the future fucking suck. Find a way to game the system.

For the vast majority of American history if you were able bodied you could easily find work that could pay for everything you needed and then some. For at least half of American history you could easily find a low level, borderline entry level job that would pay for a house in just a few years. Today it takes decades to pay for a home on the average salary.
That average salary of course does not include all the $0 salaries that most young people make because if it did the average would be impoverished (the truth).

Try keeping a farm, even just a small one for self sustenance, in 2026 America. If you don't make over a certain amount in profit you won't qualify for a farm use tax exemption, and then the land tax itself will basically rape you out of owning your own land. And you simply cannot compete with the low prices the corpo farms can afford to sell at. They have better equipment, better GMO seeds (which they also copyrighted), deeper pockets in case of lawsuits or bad markets, the list never ends.

Commercial and coporate farming is basically the ONLY viable type of farm left in the US unless you're supplementing your farm with income from another source/job.
So no, it isn't like it was for the last couple thousand years.

unironically you worked 6 month's a year and had to pay something like 1 third of your crops in taxes

sure the local lord owned you but you had a house a comunity a farm when you started a family a house would be built for you

compare that to today

sure the local lord owns you but you have no house no farm no family pay 3/5ths of everything you ever touch in tax

kek what an upgrade

it sounds insane to say but unironically fudel serf's had more "benefit's" than the modern everyman

free house .... can you even imagine a free house

that alone in todays value is what 300k?

you got 300k in fudel times just for being alive kek

it takes a person today on average 40 year's to get that....

Try offering that job to someone who's looking for one instead of a child who wants to spend his childhood being a child.

Dude it was even easier than that. In the 70s you could afford to rent a two-bedroom apartment alone working part-time at the minimum wage. If you were for some reason serious about buying a house doing only bitch work you could put down a down payment on a house if you lived below your means and worked full-time at McDick's.

However easy you think Boomers had it, it was actually way easier. It's fucking shocking to listen to their stories of just renting airplanes to fuck around in, getting drunk on another country's island, fucking up their historical sites, and suffering zero consequences, then returning the plane without refueling it and then bragging about it.

had there first house at like 17 or 18

had there 30th house at 40 or so and retired multi multi millionares

on a basic minimum wage job if all you did was buy houses you litterly retired with 10s if not 100's of millions depending on how retarded you were

At the same time there are now somalian and syrian families occupying houses in the street I grew up in. Big houses for families, with gardens, parking in front, 3+ bedrooms, all that. I have to listen to my parents say how they're all such nice people. It's driving me fucking insane. Instead of preserving our countries' generational wealth like you were supposed to, you boomers and xers have given it away to niggers and muslims. Betrayed your own children and everything your forefathers stood for. Mass migration is the sole reason for why everything sucks now, and you people are responsible.

Got some proof of that? Would love to see it because it isn't true. In 1900 home ownership was 45%. Large portions of the population were farm laborers, sharecroppers, or industrial workers living near subsistence. Unemployment spikes like the Panic of 1893 or Great Depression left millions without work for years. That doesn't even get into indentured servitude, tenements, company towns, absolutely no worker protection whatsoever in the factories and a bunch of other shit. Yes the frontier existed for a time, and was a bit of an outlet. But the same modern megacorp issue of wealthy and politically connected grabbing all the good land via political corruption existed then, hell it was invented then.
>>
>>532895109
I'm not a boomer and barely an X'er but if you are looking for blame, the mass immigration laws were passed in the 1960's when the GI Generation and Silents were in power and the boomers were children. And even then, it wasn't the first wave of mass immigration (again, in America) so it wasn't really new. That's my point, is that this shit isn't new it's a reversion to the mean. Now I can't speak to your country's history because I don't really know it but I agree that a small European nation adopting a new world style mass immigration policy is weird and treasonous. So fucking do something about it besides seething. And if you are in your twenties, no sorry sweatie, you don't really know about working for years. talk to me when it's been decades

I was friends with the floor manager and the literal CEO im serious. But i never got a raise and they only liked me because we were all white. Anyway the placed closed down in 2013 after being around for decades. Not even hiring illegal mexican labor and using Chinese white goods was enough to save the company.

Boomers were born on subsistence farms without AC, no heat, and in the worst cases no electricity (e.g. my grandfather's grandfather had no power until 1957). They knew no plumbing, no Internet, no anything that you take for granted.

Boomers look like they had it easy because of le hecking prices, and yet, they didn't have it.

So if you want to "live easy," give up:

My great grandfather was disinherited from the majority of his father's enormous fortune. My second cousin is an earl. My great grandfather had about 20m (modern money) to leave to his son. It all but evaporated by the time my dad was an adult. My uncle, who was the elder brother, still has a reasonable farm estate and a title.

I have a mahogany desk, a rolex, and a gold signet ring. That's all I got from a fortune of around 400m (modern money) barely 100 years ago.

The very earliest Boomers lived like this until they were maybe twelve and spent their entire adult lives in the greatest era of American Economic Prosperity ever conceived. You're thinking primarily of The Greatest Generation, who did experience all this, and the great depression. (Which ended about a decade before the first boomer was born.)
I know this because I live in basically the latest developed part of The United States and the lifestyle you're describing stopped existing by the time my boomer dad was just turning into a teenager.

>>532883048
No not really, usually when you see farm familites they still have big families or at least more than one child. Stop looking for/making up scenarios that aren't there
>>
>>532901675

My grandfather was born on a subsistence farm in 1942. His family moved to Old Alto Prison in Georgia where my great-grandfather rose to be head chef at the prison. His wife, my great-grandmother, cut textiles for Johnson-and-Johnson for decades.

Everything my Boomer grandfather had, he earned by his sweat of his brow and the work of his hands. He had nothing to his name except a few livestock and a patch of dirt when he was born. He didn't get out of that until his late teenage years.

Yes, he did live in a time of great prosperity. That doesn't mean he "had it easy" and it CERTAINLY doesn't mean that his wealth and life's work, and yes, bootstraps, weren't real.

Overcoming abject poverty is not easy and the of Boomers I know, all of them were born into this state of poverty.

My grandfather didn't even know the idea of food stability for his early life. He didn't get three meals a day. One was a blessing.

That's not an easy life.

that farm that people cannot buy food on....right

so its just a comparative thing

they managed to buy a farm and farmland but could not afford food

odd but ok lets just ignore that

lets take a look at that farm shall we
that farm today if they are still subsistance farming is probably worth 5-10million.....

the average american in there lifetime will not earn 2 million

so boomers who could not afford food are comparatively so unbelivably asset rich that it would take a zoomer 2 lifetimes to be as wealthy.....
your farm had what a thousand cows???

The difference between your boomie story number 4 million and every zoom's complaints is that they found shitty jobs and made it somewhere and faggots under 30 can't find a job in the most important working years of their lives.
>Live like shit until your teens

The economy actually wanted your grandad, that's what the youths want, that's why they say it was "easy"
Now the system rather just hope zoomers fucking die.
Get over yourself, this isn't about boomer's honor, it's about the fact that everyone under 30 doesn't have any idea what to do when their parents die because nobody wants them.

> Boomers had food because subsistence farm

Alright, so first off, a SUBSISTENCE FARM is called that because you SUBSIST ON IT. It is not wealthy or worth a fortune. You don't sell food to market. You eat it.

Sometimes the crops fail. Sometimes the animals are lean. My grandfather knew food scarcity on a farm because a subsistence farm doesn't have a Morb-illion acres and high tech machinery. They had hand tools and twelve hours. Even with lights in the house that doesn't help enough.

> Buy the farm

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Dude, Boomers often were born on subsistence farms because their family was stuck there for the past forty years BEFORE the Boomer's birth. My family still exists on a compound that dates back a century.

> Look at that farm

Subsistence farming is not commercial farming. Modern farmers are commercial farmers.

> 1 cow is six months wages now

Cows are a renewable resource. Buy two, breed them, and BOOM more cattle.

That doesn't change the fact that they have never lived without Internet, electricity, or indoor plumbing. I remember no Internet, but not the lack of the creature comforts of not sweating indoors.

>people want things to IMPROVE
This is the main point. If the lives of your citizens are not improving (and are in fact deteriorating) what the fuck are you doing as a leader or a government? That's the question the people start asking. The fact the fucking industrial revolution, or serfdom, or the black death were worse is not an argument. You are given a mandate by the people to make things better, not to make or allow them to get worse. Otherwise why should they even allow you to exist let alone grant you power?
>>
>>532903127

My grandfather was a Boomer, born in 1942.

I still ask how not knowing food scarcity and your ability to eat being tied to the earth (no markets, no trade), with most days having one meal a day, makes you a Rockefeller.

You quantify the land's value as if net worth is liquid cash. When my grandfather was born that subsistence farm wasn't worth enough to buy a house when they sold it.

You know how they got their house?

My grandfather literally lived on the prison grounds of Old Alto Prison because my grandfather's father was head chef there. Without that, he would still be on the farm for another ten, maybe fifteen years, nearly starving.

Gen X had as much power in the 80-90-00-10s as zoomers do now. Sure, we got some power in the 20s but boomers are living longer than their parents did.

On average, Baby Boomers are living about 4 to 15 years longer than their parents and grandparents, depending on how you measure it.
Psychology Today
Psychology Today
+1
The exact difference depends on whether you look at life expectancy at birth or once a person reaches retirement age:
From Birth: When the first Boomers were born (1946), average life expectancy was around 63 years. Today, it has risen to nearly 79 years.
At Age 65: For those who have already reached 65, the gain is more modest. A Boomer retiring today can expect to live roughly 18 to 19 more years, which is about 4 years longer than someone who retired at the same age in the 1960s.

I envy the son on the top. Every time I hear about a family with a generation business I seethe. When I hear radio commercials for some roofing company and they have their kids on I get depressed.
When I was a kid all I wanted to do was follow in my fathers footsteps. He was a pilot, but when I expressed interest he didn't really care and did almost nothing to help me be like him. I ended up having a completely different life path.
I never found a calling, I wish so much that I could have built upon a legacy of my family. I think it's so cool to hear about some business started in the 1800's that was passed down from generation to generation. I would have loved to have grown up in some small family restaurant and taken it over when I grew up.
The concept is just really appealing to me but I never got that chance. Having the choice of any possible job isn't a good thing. It's too many options, humans freeze up and have a very hard time picking something when there are too many choices. It's much better to have one or two at best.

Yes and I agree. Things are far better than they were 'back in the day', but the thing is that certain things are worse than just 20-30-50 years ago. And many of those things include milestones in life that people were conditioned to shoot for.
My point is that you can't blame the people bitching about that, or not participating in things when the trend for their entire life is that those major things become worse and worse.

Spot on, Anon. Obama's Cash for Clunkers did this. A lot of people forget about that.
>>
Young people have to figure out living in the most godless, corrupted, debased and degenerate epoch of the past three millenia with rampant inflation, no prospect of actual social mobility, dwindling opportunity, pointless jobs, an individualistic and materialistic society offering no sense of belonging or brotherhood, every shred of sense, dignity and generational wealth being actively taken away from them by hostile governments importing infinity migrants to replace them and destroy any semblance of shared civilisational values and heritage, meanwhile the world keeps descending into chaos and hysteria and the only people offering a vision of hope for the future are soulless transhumanist billionaires peddling techno-capitalist dystopias enabled by the literal implementation of the matrix, and boomers keep calling them lazy and entitled.

Words fail to convey the magnitude of man's descent, this is what the human enterprise has devolved into, a parody of life, a comedy of epic proportions, something Satan himself could not have come up in his most inspired hour.

Wow I can choose from "minimum wage hell" "underqualified in every aspect of good job but 20 years ago we'd train retards to do this" or my favourite "Dream job that you need a masters for and 20 years of previous experiance, entry level with no room for advancement :^)"

I grew up without AC nor central heating. Had no PC until 1998. But back then we did have TV, public TV and we all tuned into it to watch our favorite shows. We had no electric tools like today. Hammer, saw. The only electric tools were circular saw on a cord. You are making me remember the bad old days. No gas blower. Had to use a rake. Broom. lol. Yeah i know all about hard work digging holes, moving dirt, chopping wood with an axe.

A lot of my time was wasted fighting the earth back then.

It's so bad now that even the fixed numbers claim we're barely growing. Whenever they release the corrected numbers weeks later it says were' losing a disastrous amount of jobs.
A pound of beef just outpaced a hour of minimum wage as well.

Being a farmer is satysfiying to the soul, you get to work with your hands and raise animals and produce, you have 100% full control over your life and freedom, you are not a slave to any (((state))) or (((government))). In short you are a free man who answers only to God. Working a (((job))) means you are a slave, you have no autonomy, you will always lick the boot, you have no future. Down with (((society))), kill every city on earth.

Money is temporary. The farm is worth more than 10 million dollars. You can raise multiple white generations on it and that's what the jew fears.

We have no one.

I finished hiking the Appalachian Trail at age 12 (in the 2000s) because my dad was obsessed with hiking it again after he did it with a couple months salary at a minimum wage job in the 70s.

None of that sounds even remotely bad and I don't understand why you think anyone would struggle adjusting to that. How the fuck do you believe people would struggle with trading modern convenience for a functioning society???

They'd adjust better than fine in 6 months or less.

2003 baby here. I have gone months without even electricity working on a family ranch. Best time of my life and I’d do it again if they hadn’t sold the place.
My first girlfriend was neighbor who lived on the next ranch over.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

They're a boomer pretending to be a millenial. All boomers spin this narrative that they had it harder than anyone in history. They're pathologically self pitying liars.

There are a lot of zoomers in ranching actually.
Ranching is being outsourced and industrialized. It’s losing its human appeal.
An industrial farm is nothing like a family ranch.

Physical labor is piss easy when the rest of your life is in order.
If your grandfather was barraged by ugliness and loneliness his entire life I promise you he’d have hung himself.
He doesn’t have half the mettle men today have.

Nowadays is more like: "you're gonna eageslave for 60 years while having no time for relationships and MAYBE after 30 years you'll be able to afford to pay back half of a loan you needed to buy yourself a cramped hole near niggers"
Yeah, miss me with that shit.

This. I'd rather live a simple life if it means working 20 hours a week at a bullshit job in a homogeneous safe community instead of 60 in a violent nigger filled shit hole but i have video games (that I can't play)

>You couldn't last less than a week without air conditioning. Nor could I.
You realize there are camps and shit that zoomers can go to experience? Like JobCorps, international aid organizations, missionary work, etc.? Relatives with farms & ranches? Or that a lot of poorer people live in trailers/mobile homes/work outside with no/ineffective air conditioning? Or hell, to save on their electricity bill?

Also, even that aspect of the environment was easier for boomers. Whether you believe the causes are anthropogenic or not, temperatures objectively have risen over time.

the real thing is that life makes sense. you go out to work for your food. or else you dont have none and you starve.
now you have to take 100 customer service calls in a 8 hour shift to earn your freedom bucks that somehow makes life good enough to not get anywhere but back to work to do it again for mr shekelstein.

Tomacco is a fictional, highly addictive hybrid plant from The Simpsons episode "E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)" (Season 11, 1999), created by Homer Simpson by grafting tomato plants with tobacco seeds and fertilizing them with plutonium. The fruit looks like a tomato but is brown inside, tastes like "cigarette butts," and is described as "smooth, mild, and refreshingly addictive".

Key Aspects of Tomacco:
Origin: Homer creates it to win a duel against a Southern colonel, using radioactive waste to accelerate growth.
Effects & Taste: While it tastes terrible, it is immediately addictive to anyone who tries it, including Ralph Wiggum and local farm animals.
Popular Culture Impact: In 2003, fan Rob Baur successfully created real "tomacco" by grafting a tomato plant onto tobacco roots. While it produced fruit, it was suspected to contain high, potentially lethal levels of nicotine.
Episode Conclusion: The Laramie Tobacco Company tries to buy the rights, but the deal falls through. All plants are eaten by a addicted sheep, except one, which is destroyed in a helicopter crash.

Boomers can't conplain about the children the raised. They had many years to make them productive and give them skills. If your kid sits around and watches anime all day, that is your fault. I don't blame my dog when it doesn't listen to me.
