It is near impossible to dislodge a country that can project power across the entire world and whose currency is the reserve currency. If it can't maintain those two things though, then China will be on top. The US is only able to dominate because of its status as reserve currency and ability to project power. If it alienates its allies and loses those abilities, it will be extraordinarily difficult to cling to its position of power. China has been stable for a good while now, and its behaviour is very predictable, which is a prerequisite to have your currency function as reserve currency.
