The wait between a movie releasing in theaters to streaming is usually very short these days. Usually under a month. Many people "put off" watching a movie in theaters for a few weeks and then it's on streaming anyway. There are a lot of sequels that just don't do enough new things. Avatar 3 is way too much like Avatar 1 and 2. Ticket prices are too high. An IMAX seat costs $30. Ticket prices should be lower. Going to a theater should be seen as a cheap way to spend an afternoon. I should feel like I get my money's worth when watching a movie, I shouldn't feel ripped off. Even when I get a ticket for free using a Fandango promotion, I often times feel ripped off.

It was totally worth it and I felt like seeing those Ghibli movies on the big screen was like seeing them for the first time after only seeing them on a computer screen before. Castle in the Sky, Porco Rosso, Mononoke, Nausicaa, these are movies that HAVE TO be seen in theaters, they're made for it. The others too. it was like a whole different experience. Saw several other anime movies there too, Demonslayer, Cowboy Bebop, etc. I only stopped because Cinemark started showing INDIAN-LANGUAGE movies, sometimes MULTIPLE different ones at the same time. I'm sorry, but I don't fucking consent to sit in the same theater seats that Indians were sitting in before. Last I checked, they're not even doing the Ghibli movies anymore. When I was a kid the theatres in my remote canadian town were awesome. They had an arcade inside you could play while waiting for the movie to start, or between movies when you got a double feature. The food and drinks were cheap, the movies were awesome. The late 80s early 90s was peak cinema experience. Now there isn't even a theatre anymore, they both shutdown.

That's 750 or so on wages.Throw in utility costs, the capital costs they need to get some ROI on, taxes on both their revenue, and the property itself, and the only way those shit holes make money is by selling overpriced food/drinks for 500% markups. That, or if they start using robots to cut out the labor cost. Theatres of the 90s had comparatively less labor cost compared to their revenue.
