Talks status?
Hormussy?!
>>
A source close to the Iranian delegation has told the Fars news agency that the US was “looking for an excuse” to leave the negotiating table.

“The Americans needed the negotiation for their lost face in the international arena and were unwilling to lower their expectations despite the defeat and stalemate in the war with Iran,” the source said.

“Iran has no plans for the next round of talks,” they added

>We told the Iranians that they must give in to all of our demands and then maybe we'll give them some concessions down the road in a couple of years, and they said "No", can you believe that? All they had to do was to recognize Israel as their overlord, hand over the Strait of Hormuz to us, dismantle all of their ballistic missiles, drones, military bases, underground weapons production facilites and nuclear facilities, and agree to never enrich uranium ever again, while allowing us to continue sanctioning them, arming separatists in their country, and building military bases around them so we can attack them and overthrow their government in a couple of years. They're so irrational and unwilling to compromise!

Having you death recorded and displayed in a humiliating fashion for the whole world to see is pretty much half the reason no one wants to go to war now.

Because a negotiation implies willingness to give something up in exchange for something else. The other options are pretty shitty unless you really want to go to war for real. Or we could just walk away from it all.

Negotiations were successfully concluded, main actors are returning home to report result to relevant parties, technical teams remain in Islamabad to iron out the final details.
>>
>>532994444
That's pretty powerful leverage on its own, I hope you realize. Iran's ability to strike back is basically limited to the strait and to gulf states. They can't hurt the US directly to deter further attacks and the disruptions to oil trade hurt it's primary benefactors far more than it harms the US. It can't protect its critical infrastructure and can't deter further attacks.

Whether it can hold the strait closed or not, it will need to make concessions at the negotiating table to protect the existence of its regime. The question right now is whether the secular negotiators actually have the power to offer those concessions or whether the Muslim death cult will force them to fight to the last Persian.

you can kill iranians but not achieve your core objectives in this

1. not have israel destroyed with missiles
2. have the energy flow freely
3. not have the GCC energy infrastructure destroyed in an iranian retaliation

So this means that you must make sure that Iran feels that they got something to lose.
The US decision is now to go scorched earth, play dumb tricks until the situation is fucked anyway or to eat crow.

It is going to be dumb tricks followed by scorched earth. Then israel gets destroyed in the process though. (Nukes or not)

But as soon as they realize there's no bluff to call and hostilities resume, they're going to rush to offer a deal.

The key to understanding this war is realizing that Persian pride prevents Iran from seriously negotiating except from a position of strength. The more they feel they lack that strength, the bolder and more petulant they become, because they're terrified of losing face to their own populace. But they're also terrified of being trapped in a strategically futile and unwinnable deathwar. If they don't find that position of strength here with the strait closed, they aren't going to find it in the kinetic exchange. This is exactly why they accepted the ceasefire in the first place, they know this. Faced without an easy out, the fear of futility is going to quickly outpace the fear of losing face.

But Hezbollah, unlike Hamas, is not solely supported by outside actors. Hezbollah may be a proxy of Iran, but it often has a larger offshore impact than Iran due to its connections with the Lebanese community abroad in places like the US, Australia, and Latin America. In fact, while a majority of their funding comes from Iran still, it was estimated in 2018 that 1/3 of Hezbollah's money comes from illicit activities in Latin America around Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. Destroying Hezbollah will only occur if Israel kills ever last shi'ite in Lebanon, and they're more than welcome to try.

Do you have a source on that?

Source?

A source. I need a source.

Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion.

No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered.

You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence.

Do you have a degree in that field?

A college degree? In that field?

Then your arguments are invalid.

No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation.

Correlation does not equal causation.

CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION.

You still haven't provided me a valid source yet.

Nope, still haven't.

Iran has pelted israel with missiles for 40 days.
Has taken out for 2-3 years 20-30% of GCC energy and other production.
Has against the US navy kept the most critical naval chokepoint closed.
Has zoned out the US navy and airforce by thousands of miles or forced to hide.
Can still fire after surviving mass bombardment.

The only way to open the strait is to negotiate with iran.
The only way to stop full destruction of the entire GCC is to prevent Iran from having nothing to lose.
The only to prevent Iran from destroying israel over the next year with missiles is to make a deal. (now we know the number of missiles being in the many thousands)

There is no military solution to the US dillema, no clever trick to get out of it.
No third party who can gurantee, demand or help the US to achieve it.

The ceasefire will continue.
Part of the reason that ceasefires give wide time limits like this is to allow these pauses in negotiations, which are a natural part of the process.
Most negotiations begin with both sides presenting maximalist positions and trying to conceal what concessions they're actually prepared to make.

If negotiations well and truly die here, they would still let the 2 weeks run their course because the time places pressure on the other side to soften their position as the threat of resumed hostilities draw near. And after those 2 weeks, hostilities would resume.

What's actually likely to happen is that Iran will remain instransigent until the last 2 or 3 days of the ceasefires then suddenly offer the US a concession bundled with a request to extend the deadline. The deadline gets extended, Iran publicly denies making concessions to avoid appearing weak to its audience and the process repeats.

Iran needs the strait to be open just as much as everyone else. Its always only a short term play.
The question however is how long that "short term" really is, because they can't keep it closed indefinitely.

You can think America is retarded for starting this war and also admit that Iran's ability to resist is extremely limited.
Though that may be a level of nuance that cartel snuff bait like yourself isn't capable of.

For everybody's sake I hope you are right about more negotiations to go down the way and some of them will go better than this absolute shitshow.
Iran will likely drop the nuclear bombs but not the enrichment, they were already under the IAEA and they were saying iran were not pursuing any nuclear bombs.
Jewsa needs to drop the bases in the ME and the kikes needs to drop the attacks on gaza and lebanon to have any kind of concession from Iran tho. Heck i think even charging the toll can be dropped but the enrichment, lifting the sanctions, the defense of iran, lebanon and gaza are not negotiable
>>
>>532995393
>international guarantors
lol
have you not noticed everyone is arming themselves? because its now plainly obvious that powerful nations will never ever keep their word unless it suits them or they are dealing with another nuclear power, or someone who has some kind of powerful deterrent.

They are going to take interceptors from North America command, ship over a ton of special forces for some more call od duty fails like the one on Easter, and probably ship a bunch of rocket artillery to Bahrain and Kuwait. They may or may not try to reestablish themselves in Iraq.

It is not. Basically no economy is better off for having gone to war, even if you win. It's the broken windows fallacy writ large.
>>
>>532996772
>overhaul
No I said overhaul for a reason, it is specific term and both ships were overdue. Military ships go in for overhauling once every 2 years or so.
>>
>>532995981
Sure I do. It is superseded by explicit international treaties however. :)
>>
>>532997446
and as you know, iran is not a party to UNCLOS and neither is america.
customary international law regarding the strait applies and we will enforce it. or we might toll it ourselves since the constitution authorizes privateering and letters of marque.
>>
>>532994459
Are you sure that's it? It should be the c-32a clipper blue on the bottom like air force one on a 737 frame iirc
Although I'm not seeing it on flightradar or asdb exchange
>>
>>532994717
So there's maybe 1-3 band of international water in the middle I think even less but due to traffic separation scheme and depth of the gulf the traffic in and out of the Gulf is within the 11 miles or whatever that is territorial water. Iran on the North oman on the south I forget which lane is which direction
