Repeating here because thread migrated before I could finish what I had to say:

It's not the US's choice, it's Israel's. Israel has hedged its future by buying out American politicians; AIPAC practically controls the government, and Israel isn't afraid to use its political capital at the behest of the American people to wield America as its giant red white and blue dick against the Iranians. In reality, it's the Iranians who have won pretty much every major event in the Middle East in the last 60 years, and through their successful proxy campaign, have managed to hedge their future on being able to cripple the world economy using their control over the Strait of Hormuz and the Houthi's control over the Bab al-Mendeb. Meanwhile, they have practically encircled Israel, losing only Syria, but managing to wage an effective geopolitical capital campaign in standing in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. The median age of an Israeli Jew is 43, and the average age of an Iranian male is 37, but the average ages of Palestinian, Yemeni, and Iraqi males are 18, 18, and 19, respectively.

TL;DR, Israel's geopolitical capital got nuked after the world saw their massacring Palestinian women and children. Iran stepped in and modeled its ideology of resistance to appeal to not just the Arab world, but also Western liberals as well. Europe will sit this war out. America is only forced into it because the Israelis control our government. Conventional war is inevitable, which is essentially going to be global, and Israel will lose, dragging America down with it.

Demand already dropping. It's sneaky.
$100 is pretty much the top limit you could ever expect oil to hover for any period of time in a war.
$200 is basically impossible because $200 oil has bare bones demand at that price.

There are 2 major factions in Iran, the hardliners (IRGC and Mojtaba Khameini) and the reformists (The president, foreign minister, and some others).
After the death of Ali Khameini, the moderate who keep everyone in line, there are power struggle. After more than a month of war, Mojtaba is still severely wounded, lots of IRGC commanders dead, and IRGC failed to achieve anything significant other than Hormuz closure. So for now, the reformists are taking the reins. When Trump said that Iran is begging for peace, he might not be lying, it'd make sense if the ones begging are the reformists, who have always been anti this war and have the ultimate goal of lifting sanctions and pushing for full democracy.
For now, the hardliners are still weak, they need to consolidate power and waiting for Mojtaba to get better. This is the only time for reformists to make a significant breakthrough before the hardliners are waking up and starts their war again, and maybe uranium enrichment.
This would explain why Iran seems weak and whimpy this last few weeks, unlike the first weeks of war.

There's enough oil floating around in various stockpiles to not let us see actual supply and demand take effect. So long as actual shortages don't start, the price changes are just speculation on behalf of commondity and futures traders. That changes when countries actually need the oil and start trying to outbid each other thus driving the price up.

Irans hit it twice in 1 day so obviously they will do it again. You don't get to make estimate sof time on a ceasefire currently when that ends and real fire begins.

Because you don't realize how inflation works. This is hitting pretty much everything you consume with a supply shock that's worse than the one that hit in the 70s when the Iranians overthrew their US puppet dictator. Think of it like a conveyor belt. You get everything you consume regularly but down the line someone has taken away a large chunk of it. It just hasn't reached you yet so you don't actually know how bad it's going to be. It will hit south asia first and then hit Europe and then the US. The problem is this is happening while we're already knee deep in the recession caused by covid. It's finally making it's waves now (hence how long these things take) however when it comes to gas it hits much faster. Instead expect price shocks in the next few months. It will hit exports first, then food, then your energy bill, and then all consumer goods from plastics, to glass, or medical supplies. Everything is going to go way up. Also, to make all the chips for the GPUs in the AI race, you need crude oil and that's what's being hit the hardest in all this. The AI bubble is going to burst in the midst of all this and that will most definitely crash the market.

Intelligence assessment: the district court in Tel Aviv is at the top of the list of targets for the Iranian ballistic missiles. The goal: the elimination of Netanyahu

Intelligence assessment: The District Court in Tel Aviv is at the top of the list of targets for the Iranian ballistic missiles. The goal: the assassination of Prime Minister Netanyahu during his trial.
The burning revenge among the Iranian government following the assassination of many senior Iranian military leaders and statesmen led the Iranians to decide that if Prime Minister Netanyahu is located in a certain place for a reasonable period of time, a barrage of ballistic missiles will be launched at his location in an attempt to eliminate him.

According to intelligence sources, the Iranians have already raised a combat team for this mission. Success in this mission or even an injury to the prime minister (like Khamenei's son) would be a very big achievement for the Islamic Republic.
Photographing the fleeing Prime Minister's convoy would also be a tremendous media achievement for the Iranians. (The Prime Minister's withdrawal from the Qassem shootings in the south is remembered)

There is no doubt that if the days of hearings in the Prime Minister's trial take place, the District Court in Tel Aviv is certainly expected to receive a concentrated barrage of about 12-20 ballistic missiles. It is even possible to fire chemical missiles to hit the Prime Minister if he stays in a protected shelter. ( Nasrallah according to Nasrallah died from gas inhalation.

No missile battery will be able to stop such a concentrated barrage aimed at the center of the District Court in Tel Aviv at Weizman 1 Tel Aviv.

From the visible information collected so far, it appears that the level of accuracy of the Iranian ballistic missiles reaches 15-20 meters so that most of the ballistic missiles will damage the district court building and destroy it with its occupants.
>>
>>533164797
1. Bomb Iran
2. ???
3. Profit
Step 2 will become clear in two weeks for plan trusters. Panicans are too low IQ to ever understand.
>>
>>533164820

These are rockets carrying a warhead of 630 kilos of explosive material, as several of them have already fallen in Tel Aviv not far from the court. A coordinated hit of 3-4 such missiles on the court building will turn it into a perfect scene of carnage and ruins.

Assuming that if the work of the judicial system is resumed, hundreds of citizens, lawyers, judges and workers are expected to be in the district court building at 1 Weizman St. in Tel Aviv. After all, the existence of this scenario will result in dozens of deaths, whether the Prime Minister or one of his people is hurt or not.

One of the issues studied in the POM is the story of the negligent death of the Japanese Admiral Isuruko Yamamoto, the architect of the great Japanese victory at Pearl Harbor. The Commander-in-Chief of the Japanese Navy (who was also responsible for the Naval Air Forces) experienced an inexplicable complacency on his part that led to his death. He was killed on April 18, 1943 when his plane was shot down by American P-38 Lightnings in the Solomon Islands. The operation, known as "Operation Revenge", was planned after American intelligence cracked the Japanese code and revealed the fixed schedule of his flight.
The Japanese general used to fly at fixed times that allowed for the preparation of an aerial ambush that led to his elimination.

Additional details about his death: The "Betty"bomber plane in which Yamamoto was flying was shot down and crashed in the jungle, which was a fatal blow to Japanese morale.
Yamamoto was the architect of the attack on Pearl Harbor, and his assassination was a direct American response to that attack
The announcement of the victory: After the downing of the plane, the combined staff of the United States Army sent a short two-word message to all American Army headquarters: "The fox is gone."Revenge is complete
>>
>>533164866

It seems that the Shin Bet does not want Pearl Harbor 2 in the district court building in Tel Aviv or to write another chapter in the book of the historian Barbara Tuchman. The parade of folly 2.

The prime minister who participated as a fighter in Operation Crate also remembers how a patrol of the General Staff took advantage of the complacency of senior Syrian officers who maintained a regular border patrol

Operation "Crate"(also known as "Operation Crate 3") was a daring raid carried out by a patrol unit of the Defense Ministry on June 21, 1972 in Lebanon. The purpose of the operation was to kidnap senior Syrian officers so that they would be used as bargaining chips for the release of Israeli pilots and navigators who were in Syrian captivity.

* The destination: a tour of senior Syrian officers who traveled near the Lebanese border, near the village of Eira in southern Lebanon.
* The operative force: soldiers of a military patrol under the command of Lt. Col. Ehud Barak, while the hijacking force itself was commanded by Major Yoni Netanyahu.
* The result: the fighters took over the Syrian vehicle and kidnapped five senior Syrian officers, including a lieutenant colonel and three lieutenant colonels. During the operation, a number of Syrian soldiers accompanying the patrol were killed, while the IDF forces were not injured.
* Achievement: The kidnapped officers were used as a strategic asset in the negotiations, and were eventually exchanged in June 1973 for the three Israeli prisoners: the pilot Gideon Magen and Boaz Eitan and the navigator.

a lot of american and canadian oil doesn't become profitable until $80 a barrel
OPEC used to restrict exports to keep prices up but ever since we became a major competitor, they just flood the market. they won't restrict supply unless we do too so we've been in a death spiral for 10 years even as extraction costs remain high.
it's amazing that we accidentally pumped up the price, accidentally didn't have to get OPEC's permission, and we even accidentally destroyed 20% of the gulf's production capacity - and they're thanking us for it while they sign new US defense deals.

War as a means of "helping" the economy is the same as believing trickle down economics work. It helps improve profits for the highest earners. Military contractors, property owners, weapons, healthcare industry, and insurance especially. It's all money that will never make it's way to you but it makes the overall GDP look good on paper. Also there is this nativity that believes this is all worth it to hurt China but China is actually slatted to come out better in all this, the same way Russia didn't implode over fighting Ukraine and being sanctioned. China found alternate means to get its energy and diversified enough where in a year's time you will find China's inflation being stable while the west's inflation will keep rising exponentially. And we'll probably come up with some new cope as to why that's happening too. Anything to not face reality.

You have to think of Taiwan not as it's own country because it practically isn't. It mostly survives entirely off China and people regularly go to work between there and the mainland and think nothing of it. The reason it behaves as a kind of rouge province is because it's where all the salty retards that lost the civil war in China ran off to. Think of it like how America's south still has a lot of bitterness over the civil war. It's what started the anti-unification party and they promote themselves by being liberal and loving democracy but obviously they are heavily US backed neoliberals that buy weapons from the US hoping China tries something. But they will end up like Ukraine 2.0. Just a lot of pointless death and China will be no weaker for it whether Taiwan gives up the attack or not. And ironically enough it's dems that like to promote how nice the anti-unification party is because they love the heckin gays.

Taiwan is one conflict I'm very optimistic about for two reasons:
1. US is now too weak (and everyone knows it) to trick Taiwan into fighting America's enemy of China by promising "endless support" like America tricked Ukraine.

Correct. If Iran actually HAD the means to hit the American mainland and actually did it then it would be "ANUDDA AMERIGOLEM SHOA" like 9/11 that would allow neocons/zionists to shut up anyone unhappy with the war as "sympathizers/traitors" and the real zoomer meat-grinder will begin.

If by soft you mean barely any change besides more trade and more of Taiwan being more heavily SoE'd, then yes. China will just start moving it's SoEs into Taiwan little by little until it's pretty much just China. They don't even have to do anything offical. And the reason being is that each province in China has it's own democratically elected government. The party only works on a federal level. So Taiwan would have the same elections it does now whether the unification was offical on paper or not. There is no reason to change it. I'd only see it needing to be offical if the anti-unification party starts trying to be militant and start color revolutions which is entirely possible.
>>
>>533166879
You'll have to explain a bit how you differentiate soft vs hard reunification before I can comment.

IMO the "reunification" of China with Hong Kong was a test run/blueprint for their approach to Taiwan. Meaning: China made a deal with HK's political leadership first. Whether they used bribery, coercion, or honest negotiation - doesn't really matter in the long run. What matters is that it was the HK police forces who were on the streets to quash any dissent and stop the protests. Unarmed Chinese soldiers were positioned around the city, but (IIRC) were never needed for crowd control because HK cops got the job done.
>>533167045
Or like how America had (and still has) decades of problems with Cuba.
>not to sound to sympathetic to the ccp
Why not? Ain't no Chinese called me a "cishet shitlord" or complained about my "white privilege". Try to scam me on Ali? Sure, but that's not a unique thing to the Chinese.
Protip: you don't have to LOVE China or paint your room Commie Red to not want to go to war with them.
>>
>>533166679
>we were trying to get them to go against their government
Congratulations on believing propaganda. I suppose you think 50,000 protestors were killed, too.
You destroy infrastructure to cripple production and the economy. It doesn't matter what the ordinary people do because they were never going to do anything to a million soldiers.
Americans aren't going against the government in any meaningful way. They're still paying their taxes and going to work and voting.

There will have to be all kinds of agreements signed signed because the federal government of Taiwan will not become subordinate to the Chinese Feds. That's huge, but is unlikely to touch the lives of normies.
tl;dr - If the Taiwan "conflict" plays out as "Taiwanese people protesting/clashing vs their own government" while the CPC avoids military actions then who the fuck is America going to bomb? Try to somehow arm the citizen protesters into a militia against the government of Taiwan that USA promised to protect?

State owned enterprise. 80% of the companies and businesses that operate in China are state owned. It's what makes them far more socialist than capitalist despite having a stock market, billionaires, etc. So China would just have more and more of it's SoEs operating in Taiwan to compete with privately own competitors over time, or absorb them with attractive contracts if they're based in Taiwan.

The Iraq war took place at a time where a cabal of cold war boomers had an iron grip on information flow, their electorates and had spend years doing consensus manufacturing and planning for the operation and the world was far less cynical. It's not that hard to tolerate for them. They've been under NK level sanctions for years. This is just a somewhat worse level of suck. It's only existential because the US and Israel want to turn it into a civil war ravaged trashcanistan like Syria or Afghanistan, but intentionally this time.

However, every unit of American GDP consumes the most oil of the OECD, in spite of oil being a relatively small sector of the economy. We are more vulnerable to petroleum supply shocks than the rest of the developed world, and our infrastructure is very poorly suited to handle it.

Crude oil is what is going choked off. And until Russia's sanctions, it was a big producer of crude outside of the middle east, another producer was also us. So to save the petrodollar we decided the best option was to delete the completion but we've done it too well, too fast. Now everyone comes to us for crude and we also need to use that crude ourselves, fertilizer is the biggest use for it. When supply runs out, price goes up and we are quickly running out of crude because we're pretty much the only supplier now. Price isn't spiking because we haven't run out yet but we've already started going into our reserves. That is exceptionally bad. We're going to be hit with a fuel shortage AND a price hike, at the same fucking time.

national defense letters are done by email now. dept of commerce we can control the flow of oil down to the tanker with no change in legislation thanks to the scamdemic.
that won't be a problem though. when oil peaks and demand destruction occurs, america will be left as the top bidder. we don't have shortages here, we just outbid mexico and europe. imagine thinking americans are going be outbid for texas crude by someone who has to put it on a ship and take it to a country that's not america. again, marxists need to have the obvious explained to them and they'll still throw a hissy fit in response.
