My kids watched this show and politically i find it very interesting.The show revolves around the work of this spiritual leader called the Avatar who alone among humanity experiences reincarnation. It turns out this work is basically fighting whatever war exists in the current generation. The Avatar never actually establishes a lasting peace, and instead maintains this status quo among these four polities that are almost perpetually in conflict. So in the show, the current Avatar is a kid who has basically been frozen in ice for about a century, he was viewed as a target in the latest war which has essentially devolved into a lingering stalemate.The Avatar, rather than learning from his past lives, goes around and reestablishes all these local power structures that were upended by the war. Repeating all the same mistakes his previous incarnations did.There's a sequel series that explores his failures further, through the viewpoint of his successor. He's constructed a big shitty city full of ghettos and poor people who eventually rise up to overthrow the ruling class who are basically all wizards.Very interesting stuff for a kid's show.
