Rome officially became a Christian empire in 380 CE.
Rome was the predominant power in the western world.
Yes of course the native Americans, east and southeast Asians didn't really know or care.

Vikings spread Christianity as stated in the Domesday book.
Surprise surprise our historical record told our history...

>less than 1/8th of the world knew about jesus
>therefore the entire world knew about jesus
wut, Catholicism and/or "christianity" wasn't even the predominant religion of europe until sometime around 1300AD. Which means even most regions of europe didn't know about jesus and that was 700 years ago.
with each pre-hundred year set before even less people knew what jesus was until you finally get back to only rome knowing about it and rome wasn't as populated as you believe in consideration to just how many other countries were also absurdly populated.

France, Germany, and Spain only trailed Italy's population by 1 million people, descending by 1 million more in the order i've posted.
Rome was the center of culture and technological expansion at the time you are describing, but it was not the center of the world by sheer population number.
Many many many, many, many and many more people never knew who Jesus was until close to 700 years ago.
And many more didn't find out until the 700 since years.

The only reason people circle jerk Rome's exploits is because Rome was smart enough to keep their documentation of their exploits in historical record.
Most other civilizations were not so lucky.

The anglo-Saxons converted in 495.
These are just the nordics.

Most of Germany and mainland Europe was Christian already.

So which is it, you two are already disagreeing.
Conversion only happens after encountering the religion for a long time, and Rome converted in 380 CE.
PLUS they were latecomers to the party, the epicenter of the faith was in Jerusalem so you can expect it spread north, east and south from there for much longer before it finally reached Rome. So yes, most of the non-Asian world probably heard about it in passing.

what I said doesn't really Contradict what he said but he's not quite right. Europe wasn't unified until The Holy Roman Empire, but it was already Christian well before 1300 AD.

He's confusing Conversion with Governance.
