A draft cannot be legal or illegal. Either it happens or it doesn't. They can "get rid" of the draft, then if we ever have an absolute need for men to fight, they will simply be forced to fight. That's all there is to it. They can dismantle the Selective Service, they can vow they'll NEVER EVER conscript young men to fight in a war, but the bottom line of any society or civilization is that when the autonomy of that civilization is threatened, or if there is simply a war the powers that be want to win, they WILL force regular young men to fight, kill, and die.
