I always wondered why there’s such a manufactured moral outrage against rich old people having their savings stolen by scammers. I mean those old fucks aren’t going to use that money anyway right? Most of them are like 90 and dying. Then I realized it’s because the government taxes your estate when you die and they are upset the scammers will get the money and not the government.

I'm a bank fraud investigator, in fact I'm in management at a fintech company where I am paid very well to manage a team of people doing this. It's my actual job to catch fraudsters, freeze their money, and tell them to fuck off. I truly enjoy every aspect of that. At the same time, I can't blame foreign scammers at all. It's clearly the highest payoff you can make being a smart person with the bad fortune to be born in India, Pakistan, or some other shithole. Why slave away to become a doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc when you can make $50k in a day scamming the American elderly population? I mean it, I don't blame them at all and I would do the same in their situation.
