India is relatively warm, lush and green, with incredible mountainscapes as a strong natural defence. Consider that, for thousands and thousands of miles, there is an expanse of land stretching from Mauritania to Mongolia, which basically sees almost zero rainfall. There are parts of the world to the north of India where it simply never rains.
