Bring up the prospect of living with like 10 family members in one house and being forced into all of their functions and failed ventures to the modern person and they'll act like you're a backwards tribal. If you go back even before extended families people were raised collectively as communities and before even that tribes. If there truly is this idea of a state as a superorganism then your family will gradually become the state itself. Just look at how people are raised now, you send them to school while parents are at work and even if the mother stayed at home they're still at school most of the day. You can't even go awol and raise your kid as you like without CPS getting called on you and there's also child labor laws where children for almost all of history were working the second you could fit a tool in their hand.
