Just war theory and capital punishment theory are well-established in Catholic doctrine. The modernist faggots who kidnapped the Catholic Church, like this brownoid Pope, are not representative of Catholic doctrine.

Are you saying that the Roman Catholic Church and it's pontiff are teaching a false doctrine? That's not very Catholic of you.
>>533416958>crusadesThe Crusades were a war of self-defense.It's like Ukraine; they don't want to make war but they have no option, it's simply defending itself against Russia.
>>533417093We're burning people alive for translating the scriptures also self defense?
>>533417093That's not what the pope said. The pope said God does not hear the prayers of those who conduct war. He never stipulated what kind of war, so one naturally infers he is speaking of all wars.

>>533416367>>hate executionsEntirely unjustified. Prompt executions for crimes is by far preferable to what we have now. Imprisoning people for several years requires a significant tax burden. In other word when a criminal is sentenced to imprisonment WE THE TAXPAYERS are financially punished for the crimes of a person who broke the rules that WE FOLLOW who should have known that WE DO NOT WANT HIM TO BREAK THOSE RULES and who should be WELL AWARE of that rules. Whenever someone is imprisoned instead of being execute I AM BEING PUNISHED FOR A CRIME I DIDN'T COMMIT. YOU ARE BEING PUNISHED FOR A CRIME YOU DIDN'T COMMIT. Moreover it's absolutely retarded to let some of the worst criminals have any sort of freedom. Perhaps for petty theft or some minor crimes one can justify a fine which pays to compensate the victim and to pay for the cost of his prosecution is justified. But for worse crimes it is absolutely retarded to let someone walk. They should be promptly executed so as to be removed from society. If the position of Catholicism is to punish a non-criminal taxpayer for the criminal behavior which they had nothing to do with then Catholicism is retarded, the pope is retarded, and you should consider removing yourself from life.

>>533417169Only 5% of the people who were accused were condemned. These people wanted to die because they denied the truth until death and embraced evil, and they had no regrets. They knew they had committed crimes, they had the chance to repent, they knew they were going to hell, and they chose the evil path until death. Now tell me about the USA, which kills people without giving them a chance to repent, without them knowing the truth, without them knowing the reality of hell.

>>533416367Whats wrong with executions?
>>533416471The current Iran War, initiated "preventively" by a Jewish state and a Protestant one, cannot be categorized in any way as a "just war" by the Catholic Church's own standards. There is no contradiction in openly condemning it. On the other hand, the death penalty was justified in the Middle Ages primarily based on the arguments that Saint Thomas Aquinas lists in his work "Summa Theologiae," which essentially boil down to the idea that killing a dangerous criminal is justified because it threatens the common good, which is superior to that of the individual. At no point does Saint Thomas say that executing prisoners is good; rather, in some circumstances, it is necessary for the common good. In fact, he mentions that pardoning prisoners can be an act of virtue. The political and economic conditions of the world today are not the same as they were more than seven centuries ago when Thomas wrote his work. Today, modern states have ample resources at their disposal to prevent dangerous criminals from posing a threat, as they can be incarcerated for life if necessary, or rehabilitated for lesser offenses. It is foolish to pretend that the Church (or any institution) does not reformulate its doctrines to adapt to each historical moment; the Church has always done so. The Catholic Church in its earliest days is not the same as it was in 380 when it had already become the official religion of the Roman Empire, nor is it the same as the Church that had to confront the East-West Schism in 1054. In fact, the very formulations of Saint Thomas Aquinas were not universally adopted by the Catholic Church until some time after his death, and not without debate.

>>533416958The crusades were a defensive war; the pope went through every diplomatic channel for years asking the Islamic powers in the region about the attacks on Christian pilgrims and asking that they do their jobs in protecting people, and they would essentially respond back 'lol, not my problem, ask the next in the bureaucratic chain below me.', until local officials just said 'it's local bandits attacking everyone, and not specifically targeting Christians, and we're doing our best ;)'. It wasn't until the pope received direct confirmation from a monk who escaped a deliberate slaughter of Christians by Islamic authorities, that he called on Catholic nations to raise armies and send them in defense of Christians in the holy land; and he still didn't have direct authority to force them to.
>>533417169Seeing as most of these heretics were probably the ones doing the burning, it makes a lot of sense actually. The Salem Witch trials happened in the US.
>>533416815>and that things should be resolved through dialogue, not war.Yeah, tell that to all of human history. It's unrealistic juvenile nonsense. From the dawn of humanity there was war happening. It's just an extension of how humans are on an individual level, personal rivalries on a macro scale. Even chimps in the jungle have wars.

>>533416572Saints represent spiritual ideals to live up to. Also demons hate them so that's always a positive sign.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth;I believe in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary, He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

>>533417949What is it to wage war though? A defensive war is still a war, I reckon. Clearly we will need the pope to explain his explanation.
>>533417339One of my many criticisms of the Roman Catholics is this problem exactly. Proponents of Sola Scriptura will have it snidely pointed out that "there is no infallible table of contents within the scriptures" as if it is some gotcha moment. Yet even as the accusation leaves their mouth, it applies just as much to them as anyone else. Show me an infallible list of every infallible doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church. You can't do it, and you can't do it because they invent new ones or delete old ones from time to time. We don't even REALLY know what defines an infallible statement from the magisterium. Some people say there have only been two. Historical sources say there have been thousands. We simply don't know until the pope clarifies, but he has chosen not to do so. So we have this position where Romans will claim that you need a living magisterium and an ultimate living authority to settle matters and provide clarity for the church, but we can clearly see that this does not work in practice. The Roman Catholics have a living magisterium and have an infallible pope, but things are just as uncertain as ever for them. We don't even really know what truly quantifies as an infallible statement from the magisterium.
>>533418627>the pope went through every diplomatic channel for years asking the Islamic powersStopped reading there. You are incredibly naive if you think only the Muslims had crusades called against them. A crusade was anytime the pope granted indulgences, time out of purgatory, for military action. The Roman Catholic Church officially sanctioned the slaughter of the Waldensians in Bohemia by offering indulgences to those Roman Catholic soldiers who killed Hussite men, women, and children. If you killed a Hussite woman, you would get time out of purgatory by the grace of the pope. You can't even argue it was a defensive war. After Vatican II the Roman Catholic Church even apologized for the matter, which of course implicitly says they were in the wrong. So we have one pope who grants time out of purgatory for throwing Czech kids off castle walls, and now we have a pope saying that war is bad.
