If you have arable land and you aren't growing food, you're a fucking retard.

A single olive tree can produce well above 25 kilos of olives in a single year. In a good year, more than double that!

A single hazelnut tree can keep a man fed for a whole month (2500 Calories per day).

Even just a few trees/bushes/vines can drastically lower your food costs and you only need to plant them ONCE.

If you want to survive the food scarcity that occurs during major conflicts, growing your own is the best option.

If growing tomatoes is too time consuming for you you are less than a slave.
The grand total time spent looking after a tomato from sprout to harvest should be about half an hour.

If you can't spare half an hour out of three months looking after a tomato plant, your life is fucked and you'd be better off growing a tree to hang yourself from.

Im looking at properties to buy with olive groves in southern spain, but the one concerning thing is all these rural houses have iron bars on all windows.. whats up with that spainbros? Is it inevitable i will have my house broken in eventually? Even in these rural places miles away from any village..
I thought about at first just parking my money there but now im thinking to actually move there.. the olive trees dont need any attention if youre lazy, they just produce more fruit if you water them..every property has its own well and pool.. sunny all year round so with a couple of solar panels electricity is basically free

>Dutch did eating shit like tulip bulbs to survive
OP, you are retarded. That never happened, it was a fake and gay propaganda effort by Calvinists to promote "living in Christian poverty" by eschewing such vanities as having flowers around the house.

The whole "tulip bubble" was 1% reality and 99% lies to push agendas. The reality was that it was a repricing of commodities contracts when the government forcibly changed them from delivery contracts to options contracts because the nobility had gotten too deep into debt. The other 99% was bullshit dreamed up by Christian hardliners to show how immoral it was to live in anything above a mud hut by explaining that sailors were flogged for eating bulbs, idiots traded their houses for a single ~~magic bean~~ bulb, and billions of people went bankrupt.

Also, some of the higher priced bulbs were especially pretty, having variegated colors and frilly leaves, which turned out to be some sort of virus.

Lastly, everyone hates olives, they suck, the only thing they are good on is black olives on pizza, and only in small amounts.

Bitch, are you high? First of all, olive trees can't fucking grow much less be fucking productive just fucking anywhere. They CAN do ok here in Texas, very fucking south Texas. Even then, one good polar vortex and they're fucking deader than a kraut blonde whore in a Pakistan prison gangbang. And hazelnuts only harvest from late August up to October. And even on my ranch, trying to grow a families worth of food on a couple of acres can prove drastically different depending on which acres you grow a garden in JUST ON THE 370 ACRES I OWN, SOME OF IT ON A RIVER. soil, water movement in the soil and where carbon build up is plentiful or rare all play into it. Gardening ain't simple. It takes time to learn just the fucking basics. Then you gotta figure out each growing season. The conditions change. What worked last year will fuckin' kill everything the next year. New problems pop up. Food storage helps, greatly. Get it wrong and it will kill you faster and worse than starvation. Storing food properly is a hardcore science and an art to make it palatable. I'm so sick of all of you people yapping about how simple it is to grow and properly store food. It isn't. Not by any damned measures. Especially because the kikes make damned sure the once easily available tools to properly store food are now garbage or at best extremely hard to find. Take one of the most important and basic things needed for proper food preservation: Cheesecloth. That shit called cheesecloth at most stores? Utterly fucking trash that will fuck up any process that calls for real cheesecloth like draining whey for cheese making or making certain preserves. Once you find real cheesecloth and compare it to the 99.9% of shit sold as cheesecloth you'll quickly see it for the sabotage it is. That's just one example. I have hundreds of others. From proper strains of fruits and nuts (like all olives) that are not true to seed to the truth behind the various strains of bananas.

>Protein starvation, also known as rabbit starvation or protein poisoning, is a form of malnutrition caused by consuming an excessive amount of lean protein without adequate fats or carbohydrates. This condition occurs when the body cannot effectively process large quantities of protein, as the liver becomes overwhelmed trying to convert it into glucose via gluconeogenesis, leading to severe metabolic disturbances.

>The primary mechanism involves the body's inability to derive sufficient energy from lean game meat alone, as the liver can only process approximately 400 grams of protein into usable calories per day. Consequently, even if a person eats until their stomach is distended with lean meat (such as rabbit, caribou, or moose), they may still starve to death due to a lack of caloric density from fat.

>Key Characteristics and Symptoms
Dietary Cause: The condition arises from a diet where almost all calories come from lean meat, lacking the necessary fat to support protein metabolism.
Symptoms: Initial signs include nausea, fatigue, and headache, which progress to diarrhea, low blood pressure, and vague discomfort that can only be satisfied by consuming fat or carbohydrates.
>Fatal Outcome: Without the addition of fat (e.g., from marrow, blubber, or oils), the condition can lead to organ failure and death, even if the individual is consuming enough total food volume.
>Historical Context: First documented by Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson, this phenomenon was observed in indigenous peoples and early explorers who relied heavily on lean game during food scarcity, though Inuit diets traditionally avoided it by consuming high-fat animals like seals and whales.

i actually switch things up a bit, but i would have zero problem with that, and billions of people would agree with me. it's very versatile, and can be combined with savoury stuff, as well as sweet, or just eaten on its own. it stores well, and cooks quickly compared to beans, but hard to grow unless you make a rice paddy. it's super cheap to get a bunch for emergencies and store in buckets. for $200 you can eat for months.
most of the people alive in the world today, and in the past, ate 80-90% of their calories from a single starch source.
>calories
yes, this is the key. you can't live off cabbage, not enough calories even if you ate your weight. corn, yes, beans, yes, grain, yes, potatoes, certainly, fruit, almost. non starchy veg are good for vitamins and fibre, and fruit is great for calories as well as vitamins and fibre.

There is a tree called Russian Olive that I've seen growing wild. I wonder if that is a real olive tree or just a common plant name for them? Like how they call sunchokes sunchokes, even though its a tuber and not an artichoke, at all.
If those are real olive trees then you might be on to something.

Don't worry, the rationing will only last TWO WEEKS!

People are far too trusting. I don't have the patience for dealing with retards like that Swede with anything less than ridicule.

Ever had "wild rice"? It's not actually a rice, but is cooked the same way. FAR superior, in my opinion.

Then you can make Chinese orange chicken easy.

There are a bunch of plants called "olive" that aren't actually olives, kind of like how a lot of things are called "cherry" without being a cherry. The jaboticabas I mentioned earlier are also called "tree grapes".

I'm considering planting some "autumn olives".

For eating and making high quality oil. What the fuck do you think olives are used for?
>>
>>533432468
the only time I've seen anyone eat olives is on pizza, and olive oil is a nigger-tier seed oil
>>
Have you ever tried a fresh wintergreen berry? It's really refreshing.
>>
>>533432034
i think so, but it would have been years ago. i think it's nuttier?
fwiw, my strategy given my climate is to grow one or two things intensively, and a few herbs to go with my food as condiments. it's way easier for me to buy my starches than to grow them, so i focus on herbs like walking onion, oregano, and basil. i also eat the dandelions that show up in the yard, way easier than planting a garden of greens that a rabbit will eat on me.
so mine isn't a survival or self sufficiency setup, it's a defray my costs setup.
herbs like basil are the most expensive per pound item in stores. since i like pasta, and just buy the crushed tomatoes to make my own sauce, a few fresh basil leaves go a long way in adding flavour. i used to cook professionally, and went through my "try all the ingredients phase", and horseshoed back around to keeping it simple. just pasta, tomato, basil and garlic is amazing
i guess my meandering point is that people need to grow a garden for their needs. it helps as an organizing principle, minimizes wasted time and effort, and works with your life. i think your initial recommendations were a very good place to start
i remember my uncle's cherry tree in his small yard in toronto giving off buckets and buckets of fruit, i ate them until i got the shits kek. i don't think i could afford to buy enough cherries to do that these days.

check
olives are fruit
>seed oil
oh hi shill
>>
>>533432522
You get the oil from the flesh of the olive, not the pit, retard.
There are all sorts of delicious olive recipes. All you are doing is pointing out how terrible a cook you are. Go make some spaghetti alla puttanesca.

The way I see it, if squirrels eat some of the fruits and nuts, I'm just fattening up the squirrels to harvest them later. All you need is a .22 to harvest then cleanly.

Harvest them* cleanly

If you have time, I’d like to know more about what a real cheese cloth should be like. Thanks
>>
>>533433136
Cheesecloth comes in grades between 10 to 90. Anything below 70 is a joke. To find anything above 50, you need to turn to specialty sources. Restaurant supply and such. Especially anything over 80. The higher the grade, the finer the mesh and thicker and more durable and functional the cloth.

This is my friend's manual for the most low cost farming possible, applicable worldwide. He helped translate previously two different methods of what's generally called Korean Natural Farming. We had many communications and met in person thrice. The Fukuoka level is something to aspire to, where you live in harmony with birds and squirrels, every animal seeding abundance. http://ppuri.co/bbs/board.php?bo_table=download&wr_id=11

This. Same stupidity as hunting (gear 20.000sek minimum) for food. The meat will still be hundreds of sek per kilo and danish pork is around 50 sek per kilo. Almost as stupid as spending time hiking, tenting, talking, drinking beer and cook outdoors with friends when you can drink moonshine and talk to an ai.

I know I know I know. It’s just that….. I’m not paying $7.99 for your nanobot infested, roundup ridden fuckass raspberries that don’t even taste good hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

>A single olive tree can produce well above 25 kilos of olives in a single year

After maturity which takes 25 years after planting.
