This article is good, she's taking her ideology to it's logical conclusion and advocating for the total abolishment of the draft in the name of equality. And in doing so she implicitly admits that the core of feminism is a revolt against natural obligation. The only distaste is one of history, which is that feminists typically expect men to kotow to their behavioural/physical woes, despite demanding that expecting them to fulfill biological roles is unequal. But that's not contained in that article and so isn't really relevant.Also, she's correct, you can't live in a state that alleges individual rights and parades itself for that merit as it's core value above all and then tell them to go die cause we told you so. Not only is it dissonant but it's negligent, if you're going to conduct conscription when war comes then you ought to be training them when there isn't one. The fact that you don't makes it implicit no fighting is expected and deceitful. >>533427532legally under US law the draft is voluntary. because the US Constitution declares slavery illegal except as punishment, no american can be forced to act as a soldier in the army. your draft letter requires you to attend the draft office at the appointed time and if you don't there is a punishment. this is legal according to law pass by congress. once at the draft office you are "told" to cross a line on the floor and register, but this act is voluntary. if you don't the draft officers will give you shit and harass and threaten you (with legal things, not violence) but you have the right to refuse to cross the line and complete the registration process. this has been settled by the courts and there is case law and precedent to say this is what the deal it. i can't remember the case law.so you get punished for not attending the draft appointment, but once there you can refuse to volunteer and they kick you out the draft office.
