Most people are incredibly unrealistic about their ability to function at a high level. Many people assume that they are top and will always have what they want. It’s only because they are dumb. So they have this unrealistic optimism in their youth, about how all of their dreams will simply manifest through chance or through the sheer amazingness of their personality. Grappling with that as you get older and your dreams, don’t materialize, even the slightest bit of self reflection will be terrifying
