Has anyone here used a temp agency? What's it like?
Apparently nobody in this city wants to hire me and I'm gonna have to go to one if I want to continue eating food
>>
How does one get so fat? I assume it can't be only eating too much but also genes should play a massive role here

He's not that fat, just bad pov angle. He could diet to his healthy range in like 3-5months.

Job sites are shit (thousands of people competing with you for every job). Temp agencies are decent. better odds. Employers go there and pay the agency to bring in staff. Sometimes job ads arent even about hiring someone, but gauging interest and salary averages. So temp agency is better. But they take a cut. If you earn $18 per hour, you're actually getting $15 per hour because the agency takes a cut. or something like that.
>>
>>533441628
used temp agency
got shit job
learned everything about shit job from shit assholes that worked there.
left shit job with high value shills
joined another company with all the shit job skills at 4x my pay rate.
now I am set for life

It's really the best way to go IMO. Applications and interviews are not an effective way to get a job and I'd be dead without them. One gal at a staffing agency wouldn't send me out to work one day because I couldn't breathe so she rushed me to the hospital and I had a punctured lung and several broken ribs. So yeah

Theyre awesome. I did electrical work through temp agencies for like 7 years. Its kinda the same as it is everywhere else, it can be easier for them to get rid of you if youre a lazy, piece of shit person who cant do anything right or read social cues, so I love them for that reason. All you have to do is not be a lazy piece of shit and youll never have to worry. Just make sure your employers keep saying good things about you and you will always have work. And when they job ends, they will find more work for you do do. You always get a week or 2 off between jobs, which is always a nice little break. If a certain company wants to hire you but you dont want to work for them permanently, or you get a bad feeling theyre going to exploit you, you dont have to let yourself be hired by them, you can choose to keep being a temp if you want. Then when a really good company needs your help, you do good work for them and they'll hire you on. Its exactly what happened to me, now Im getting pretty decent benefits and over 40 dollars an hour. All I had to do was wait to be cycled through the right employer. Its its good this way because as you move around to different jobs, you gain different types of experience. You dont go where you feel comfortable, you go where they put you, you go where they need you, so youre always getting your hands on something new, gaining new experience you wouldn't have gained by staying in one place for 20 years. Im a superstar at my job because of my diverse skillset and I blame the temp agencies for giving me those skills.

Tldr: I wouldn't do it forever but there is definitely a good side to being a temp, give it a chance. Just dont be a lazy piece of shit.

I wish there was temp agency for work other than manual labor, like temp office work.

but the temp agency in my town at least only has hard hat / steel toes jobs exclusively.

Maritime jobs are where it’s at. I work 5 months straight and have the rest of the year off. I live a simple life so it’s perfect for me.
>>
>>533441628
Temp jobs are usually very dangerous. Companies hire temps so they don't have to pay insurance if you get injured or die. Temp agencies never pay out and will just go bankrupt while the company that caused your death or injuries come out unscathed.

Because by law it has to list not only what the ingredients in the burrito are made with by weight, but also the sub ingredients, which makes it obnoxiously long.

This is not entirely federalized, different states require different expositions of ingredients listing. I believe this is a Texas law that produces ingredients lists this long.
>>

>left shit job with high value shills
what skills specifically? every temp job i've worked was some factory shit, janitor, etc. i'm convinced that's all there is for temp jobs
>>
>>533441628
I used one when my parents said I needed a job for the summer before uni
Ended up working at some assembly line for barely over minimum wage
It sucked, but anyone could get a job if they weren't a felon (they hired some felons too)
>>
>>533443727
>>533441848
yeah you can't just say that the ingredients are tortilla and mayonnaise, it has to list the ingredients of the tortilla and the mayonnaise too. And if the mayonnaise has some sort of seasoning mix, then it has to list the ingredients of that as well, etc.
>>
>>533441628
you may not like it, but this is what peak male performance looks like
>>
>>533441628
Using a temp agency you will get paid slightly less than the real wage until the place/company decides to hire you after 3 or 6 months (depends on probationary period), that little bit of money you lose per-hour goes to said temp agency, that's how they make their money.
It's a good way to get a job though if you're having trouble. I had to use one 5 years ago, when all factories and places were only hiring Indians because the government was paying half their wages.

I have back in the day. It often leads to long term employment if it’s a good match

>>
>>533441628
I worked as a temp for over 12 years if that's what you're asking.
If you got skills (gifted) but no sense of belonging - it's a decent way to make money.
They will ofcourse screw you any way they can, they always do.
And as a temp you have two companies trying to screw you, the one you're actually doing work for, and the temp who pays you - so you gotta be ready and able to wrestle with that.

>>
>>533441677
People eat whenever they get the urge to, they have no self control to limit the number of calories they intake per day.
You really only need 1500-2000 if you have a job where you don't move much, if you're a construction worker or something you'll need more but that's it

>>533444959
The trick is to ask the company that you are doing temp work at, what your contract is costing them, and then say you will work for 10% less if they hire you directly.
>>
>>533441628
OP your body is built like shit, you need to stop eating, workout more, you need to shave, get a job and get a house. You're too old for this. And shame on the rest of niggas for not telling him this...

>>533441628
Temp agency's can be both good and bad. If you want to get thrown into a bunch of random jobs to see what you like some will work with you. Mine stopped contacting me after I kept asking to move jobs, so you can burn that bridge. Pretty much any physical labor job is willing to hire. Now it gets more complicated if your a felon or can't pass a drug test. Alot of places do mouth swabs where I'm at. Also they take some of your money you would of earned if you just applied online but most those production and warehouse jobs just hire through temp agency's because it's quicker. Now the problem is if your In a temp agency for a contracted amount of time like let's say 3 to 6 months than you get hired onto a union job and if that contract has certain pay raises in a year of employment than youd have to wait a year plus the temp contract time you already did to get that contract raise. So it kinda fucks u at the same time you know. So instead of waiting a year it's be like a year and half or a year and 3 months. They give u work quick If you live in a decent town.

Honestly as long as you have no sex crimes it shouldnt be that hard to find a job. I know second chance temp agency's that'll literally hire a murderer over someone that grabbed a chicks ass or fucked a 17 year old.

I honestly don't understand how people can't find work. There's so many jobs, people just don't want to do shitty work, but unfortunately, sometimes thats what you gotta do to get somewhere better or move up within that company.

Good suggestion.
The "filler" jobs in my temp days was always "material handling".
Not the best paid stuff, but it made sure I was full time employed even as a temp.
If OP isn't forklift certified, he needs to get his fat ass to where ever he needs to be to change that. For here (all might not be relevant where any random anon is at) the most used "certificates" for me as a temp was
> regular drivers licence
even if the job didn't require it, working at random places means DRIVING or forgettabouttit
> Fork lift certificate
not even a meme, as a temp it's a golden little piece of paper
> Food safety certificate
not really NEEDED, but I could get much better paid gigs as I could take "being in charge" jobs instead of "direct supervision only" jobs in the food industry
>Traverse Crane certificate
This is another "fork lift" thing. It's really amazing how much shit get movet around by those two types of machines.
> big rig license
Even if you're not "out trucking" a lot of the better paid material handling jobs require you to be able to a bit of big rig driving, if only lining up the loaded rigs for when the jeets come in to take them to their final destination.
> ADR (our "dangerous cargo" thing)
Last on the list when I worked BUT (I stopped temp'ing before the corona hysteria and went independent) it's probably much more relevant now, as everything with above "x amount" of lithium batteries is dangerous cargo, and daaaayum there's a lot of products with large lithium batteries being shipped now.

if its anything like the worker agencies here they are assholes that don't pay well but its the only option if you have been neeting for a long time and don't have any other experience. Got into a good high tech job through the experience by first doing a very annoying job through the agency in the middle of nowhere for pittances. Everyone knows you are a cheap hire thats only there for experience so you get treated like that. Would not recommend for more than 6 months.

>>533441677
Imagine you take a normal diet for a thirdie like you, then you add 2 cups (dry volume) of rice to it (like an extra 0.50 american cents per day). You gain 3 pounds of fat a week. 140 extra pounds in a year. In less than 2 years you will look like that. Getting fat is extremely easy when you aren't poor.
>>
>>533445471
I live by a uline warehouse and their shift hours are fucking awful. They start at 4am.
>>
>>533447190
What's bad about that?
I've always hatet the 2pm start shift, every "social" hour gone.
4am only means you have to get up early, and only miss out on the "often stupidly drunk" social hours because you have to go to bed early
>>
>>533443727
Has that affected product availability in different states?
Over here, there's been complaints about product availability and additional costs when a simple "Not for EU" label became required for some supply line movements within the UK. I can imagine your producers wouldn't be too thrilled either with different labeling for different states.
>>
>>533447354
I'm not an early bird. I spent years working construction so I can handle 6 or 7am starts bur 4am is just too damn early for me. I used to work at a warehouse 3pm to midnight and I actually liked those hours.
>>
>>533441628
Just live off those fat stores for a while, 1pbtid blubberpot.
>>
>>533447381

Not necessarily, market perceptions do most of that work, and it certainly changes the names. For example, a lot of the salt in that burrito is given yellow prussiate of soda, this is a common name for Sodium Ferrocyanide, a name that most industries and marketers would be hesitant to label in their ingredients list. As such, since this compound is GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe), it is allowed to be labelled with this common name.

Ironically, compounds like monosodium glutimate are listed by their chemical name because their common name, MSG, is stigmatized.
>>
>>533447503
Yeah, that's the one.
Only it's 2pm to midnight, 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday) here (in most places) and that'll "count" as a full 40 hour work week, even though "unpaid breaks" means it isn't.
That (the 4 day thing) is the one thing I always liked about our setup - even if it wasn't a good thing for me.
Another plus, not relevant for me, but shift colleges mentioned it. It's so fucking easy to pick up girls at the bar when on that shift, as you're sober to drive just after midnight, while they're already way pished from "pub-ing for hours"
>>
>>533448702

>>533441628
I did a long time ago. They take part of your already low pay and you feel like an absolute chump. But you don't have to work that hard because what are they gonna do? Fire you?
>>
>>533441628
>temp agency?
First experience: On approach to the agency I see a line out of the door, of immigrants only. Turned around and walked the other way.

Second experience: Day before "do you want to work tomorrow" "Sure" "Shift starts at 6am". Get there at 5:30am, sat in the canteen filling out health and safety. Some pencil neck manager comes over "The agency overbooked, because you were the last here there is no work today".

From that point, I never even contemplated using an agency. You're treated like meat, a number. Its foreigners only. If you're doing a proper job via agency, perm staff hate you.
