>be brasileiro
>buy an electrical shower for under 20 dollars in any random store, install it in 5 minutes, move or turn a button to choose how hot you want your water, turn the water handle and enjoy a warm bath
>maintenance is poking a needle once a year on the holes where the water gets out (if you live in a place with lots of minerals in the water) and changing the resistance when it breaks with 5 minutes of labour
Why are firstoids so scared of harnessing the power of the electron? Nikola invented the electricity so you could have practical appliances at your house, and still you keep living like the neanderthals used to. Water heaters / boilers are a scam, created by plumbers and other tradesmen guilds to force you to pay for installation, expensive equipment and maintenance.
Just accept that the future is now and get a based electrical shower.

Using electricity for heating is a massive waste when you have access to natural gas. An exception is an efficient enough heat pump, but such a simple and small tool like picrel would not include a heat pump.
>>
>>533443226
1) here, electricity is cheaper than gas.
2) in cold places, the water gets very cold. An electric shower wouldn't work.
3) their electrical system would have to be redone, either because it would require very high currents, or because the distribution is designed differently.
you don't even know what you're talking about.

What the fuck does that even mean? There are electric furnaces that can melt fucking steel, why would it not be possible to heat water from 1-2 celcius to around 30-40?
>3) their electrical system would have to be redone, either because it would require very high currents, or because the distribution is designed differently.
It should only require around 2kW, which is about 8 amps

You can identify this as fake thread from the fact that OP suggest buying an expensive electric shower head instead of simply stealing a used hairdryer and running the water trough that.
>>
>>533444050
So 24kW? Lol.

Also what the fuck, do macacos not know what a boiler is? 100L electric boiler is 100$, probably cheaper over there, 2 people can easily shower with it, you can take a bath with it. 150L boiler is enough for a family with 3 kids.

We need warm water in pipes to heat the houses anyway in winter. It's called central heating. Also we don't use boilers and the central heating units now a day are completely safe

A what? All of our shit has been solar/electrical since 1990s. 9 out of 12 months it's scorching hot free water. For the other 3 you might need some 30m to heat it. Let the non-Med goys deal with gas and shit.
>>
>>533443957
8kW isn't nearly enough in western world. US showers pull 10 liters of water per minute, call that 0.15 liter per second. Dumping 8kW into that only raises it up by 12 degrees, which when it comes in at 10 degrees from the ground would still be cool shower. This is why no one uses these in the civilized world.
>>
>>533443226
In Soviet Russia hot water just comes out of the tap.

>>
>>533443957
Actually, that is a 7800W shower, it is one of the first results you get for 7800W, 220V showers.
>it would boil you alive!
No, because the water is heated for just a few instants before being pushed out. That is the magic of the electrical shower safety. You don't "turn it on". When a certain amount of water pressure passes through it, it turns on automatically. If the water pressure gets down, meaning no flow of water (due to no water coming up from the pipe) it turns off immediately. You turn the handle to close the water flow, it turns off automatically. It is impossible to boil water on an electrical shower.

Obviously. But it doesn't happen, because it turns itself off from low water pressure, making it 100% safer than a water heater / boiler that the neanderthals use.

Yo dis sum classic internet bait ass bullshit n its a muhfuckin masterclass in how yall b havin janky ass volts n callin it a flex. Dis ain technology dis is infrastructure poverty w a plastic cover on it.

Da post a whole ass troll job cuz it act like it ain neva heard of da one muhfuckin law u cant run from: Ohms Law dummy. Watts equal Volts times Amps. Period.

Lemme break dis shit down Barney-style fo u Firstoid muhfuckas who think yall can just twist a $20 suicide shower head onto yall weak ass wall n not end up a crispy critter or shiverin like a stray dog.

>1. Da Voltage Cap (110 vs. 220)
Look. Dat Brazilian chuveiro b runnin on a dedicated 220V (or dat 127V high-amp) line. Mo portantly dat hoe b PULLIN damn near 4500 to 7500 Watts.
Over here in da States? Yall standard wall jawn is 110V/120V at a punk ass 15 Amps. Dat shit max out at like ~1800 Watts on a good day.
U go head n plug dat Brazilian jawn into a US badroom outlet. U know whatchu gon get? Sum piss-warm dribble. If u lucky. Breaker prolly gon pop fore u even get da shampoo ladered. Yall want a hot shower on 110V? U gon need a wire thick as a sumbitch dumb n a breaker big as a Bible. Das why we got dem 240V plugs in da laundry room fo da dryer not in da spot where u wash yo ass.
>>
>>533445361
>2. Dey Call It a "Suicide Shower" Fa a Muhfuckin Reason B
Da only reason dis joint cost $20 down in Brazil is cuz da heatin element is bare butt-naked nichrome wire sittin inside da gotdamn water stream like 3 inches from yo dome.
- First World Code: Yall cant have SHIT das live electrically widin splashin distance of da tub widout sum heavy-duty groundin GFCI/RCD n allat extra safety money shit. A $20 shower head w da wires hangin out da back? Dat bitch fail ERRY single code book from here to London. Straight up illegal.
- Groundin? Wut Groundin?: Niggas down dere (specially in dem old cutty houses) da "ground" wire b wrapped around a rusty pipe or just swingin in da breeze ain connected to shit. Over here in da US? A plumber hook up sum shit dat make da water spicy n he ain got a inspected ground rod? He goin to jail da second sumbody ass get fried.

>3. Gas Go BOOM vs. Electricity Go ZAP
How we do it over here? "Yeah Im finna keep my big ass boiler in da basement or da attic 20 whole feet away from where Im standin nekkid fore I stand under sum contraption mixin 220 volts n water in a plastic shell made fo $2 in sum factory in Manaus."
N dat lil trick u talmbout? Pokin da holes w a needle cuz da lime clogged it? DAS DA SHIT DAT GET FOLKS KILT. Limescale build up on dat bare wire. It get too hot. Da copper melt. Den BZZZZT. Now da whole gotdamn water stream is a live phase wire. N u standin in it wet as hell. Goodnight Irene.

>4. Trickle vs. Pressure Wash
Reason we got dem tanks? Pressure fool.
- Yall Shower: To get dat water hot w no watts dey choke da flow down to a babys sigh. It b a warm mist. U might as well spit on yaself.
- Our Sheeit: We heat up 50 gallons of water slow as hell over time. When u cut dat knob on? BOOM. Niagara Falls of hot water beatin yo back like it owe u money.
>>
>>533445213
shower installations in Brazil typically range from 40 to 50 A.
theoretically it could support 11k W showerheads
>>
>>533445383
>Final Word:

Dat Brazilian shower? Das a survival hack. Its sum real I ain got gas lines in da favela n copper cost too much so fuck it we ball energy. Its genius fo what it is. Poverty engineering.

Da Firstoid boiler? Das comfort money. Das da difference between pushin a 70s Bug u can fix w a rock (but datll fold u up like a accordion if u hit a curb) n pushin a new Volvo dat need a damn computer science degree to change da oil (but u walkin away from da wreck).

Enjoy dat $20 zap water playa. Just keep yo wet ass hands off da faucet handle fore u see da light. Fr.

>>533443627
>It should only require around 2kW, which is about 8 amps
I takes just over 4 kJ to raise 1 liter of water 1 degree C.
So to heat one liter from 10C to 40C it takes 125 kJoules.
Typical shower has a flow rate of 10 liters per minute.

So it requires 125*10/60 = 20.8 kW of power to have a comfortable shower.
In Europe typical household circuits are limited to 3.6 kW, although you could get a 3 phase connection that can output 22kW but they are more expensive and if the whole neighborhood takes a morning shower the grid would collapse.
>>

Hot water helps clean the clothes.
It's not to disinfect anything, although running the 90C program a few times a year will keep the inside of the machine cleaner.

It's not strictly necessary but if you wash at 40C your clothes will be cleaner than if you wash at 20C.
Makes it easier for grease to dissolve and helps the enzymes do their thing.
Normally the coldest setting is 30C, I'm not 100% sure but I think the enzymes in the detergent don't activate at all in colder water.
