Pizzabro, movies are a nostalgia trip now, like a fax machine or AOL or myspace. Nobody's interested in movies anymore because of smartphones and social media, and the nostalgia gap will become wider as the years go by.

>>533510830
A sequel to District 9 would just be the aliens showing up again and fucking *destroying* humanity. The prawn has to selected which *galaxy* they want to go to before they can refine their search down to planet, the Prawns are so much higher tech than we are that wiping all life from the Earth would just be a rounding error for them.

not much of a thick plot.
something like "they came back to bring home the remaining prawn aliens but humans have adapted the technology from the first movie and they stand against them, so le main character from the first movies tries to help the aliens in exchange of being turned back human, but then he changes his mind and stays alien and goes to meet the girl from previous movie and stay together, the aliens also change their minds and help south Africa to be a cool countries for aliens and humans"
>>
>>533510830
"Chappy" has somewhat the same setting.
>>
>>533510830
>damn why they don't invest in indie movies?
they do because they're cheap and have original ideas. as for a district 9 sequel, trust me, you don't want it. they clearly didn't have the second one in the pipeline to pitch and start making. that means writing district 10 would just be chasing the magic of district 9.
>>
>>533511650
I think you misunderstood the movie.
There was 2 types of alien. (like Alien Nation tv show/movie)
Most of the prawns were trading alien weapons for cat food while one was scavenging alien tech to power the drop ship.
Its a master/slave society with a limited number of "upper class" aliens.
>>
>>533512496
I am aware of that. The movie states it outright. This is irrelevant to the point that the larger scale civilization out there, which presumably hasn't lost all of its leader-class individuals in an accident like the stranded ship did, would be more than capable of overwhelming Earth with superior technology.

It doesn't matter if the common drone is a fucking idiot if they can just glass the planet from orbit anyway. Arguing otherwise is like saying that we have nothing to fear from a country armed with nuclear bombs because the average person that lives there doesn't know how to make one.

I'm just going to assume that you don't know much about South Africa. District 9 is a story very much rooted in South African apartheid, which was a level of institutionalized racism that makes the Jim Crow era America south look like a BLM march. Under apartheid people were categorized by race and by law that forced them into unequal living conditions that controlled every opportunity available to them, forcing them different categories of people into different regions/communities, lines of work, etc. Elon Musks family is from here, part of the white upper class that got rich by exploiting the fuck out of everyone else.

So saying >>533511482 just means that you don't know that district 9 is drawing inspiration from when the people that live where the movie was written and shot did pretty much exactly that already before.
>>
>>533510880
shut up jenzy.
>>
>>533513269

Yeah it might not be the most humanitarian thing to do, but in the long run, separating blacks from the rest allows civilization to advance instead of regress.

District 9 is the grownups version of Avatar, except the guy doesn't get turned into a hot ten foot tall cat person in a land of hippy faggotry, he gets his life ruined and turns into a giant roach. He still does the right thing even though he's not a fighter.

Movies don't need sequels, that idea started in the 70s and has been stuck in your head like a giant marketing dildo.
>>
>>533510830
The window for a sequel came and went 15 years ago when people still gave a shit about this movie. It’s a fine movie, but it’s time to let go.
>>
>>533512052
wasn't the protagonist of chappy a jeet? LMAO
>>
>>533515293
The ship arrived busted and full of worker/pleb roaches. They barely had a grasp of their own tech and had little direction. The roach the protagonist befriends is a little more mentally switched on and together they navigate evil corporate humans, evil gangster humans and the fact the protagonist is turning into a roach due to an accidental exposure to alien tech fluid.

Fucken love this movie, it's very raw and south african.

Star Wars could handle sequels because it was a kid movie. People who were 20 at the time rolled their eyes, they were more into Saturday Night Fever and Close Encounters that year. Smokey and the Bandit did better than both, and that could have sequels too, because it was stupid.

Wasn't this peter jackson's film? He should have made the Halo movies or series back in the 00s when it was still fresh. The paramount one wasn't awful but meh. They did a better job with the fallout show though that's not saying much
>>
>>533516521
>would you sell the rights to anyone so they could fuck it up?
george lucas did the three middle star wars films and then tried to do the three prequels and fucked that up. selling it to disney for 5B was a good move for him, but at that point i knew the franchise was six feet under. from what i can tell, disney just used STAR WARS to churn out a tsunami of slop.

Supposedly Independence Day was supposed to be a sequel to the first Stargate movie but the execs weren't into it so it was redone. Bless SG1 tho. Also controversial take, SGU wasn't that bad, it was different from SG1 and Atlantis but I kind of liked the way they made it. Wish there was more than 2 seasons

>Do a series of movies set in Apartheid South Africa
>Fandom becomes large enough
>Some well-meaning goy decided to do YouTube videos on the subject for fun
>Lotsa goys become intrigued by the subject, more videos come out
>Shit like ANC atrocities and the role of the kikes in the insurrection become common knowledge
>Lotsa goys get accidentally redpilled, regardless of how much kikes try to shut it down
There's a reason certain settings are rarely seen in movies and video games, but you're bombarded with goyslop about WWII, muh mafia (except kosher nostra, it's absolutely verboten to ever aknowledge the existence of Meyer Lansky, Mickey Coehn, Bugsy Spiegel, and other jewish mobsters), and carefully selected and "adapted for modern audiences" capeshit. Kikes are so neurotic they rarely risk making fuckin' westerns anymore, and the few they allow, never aknowledge the Civil War in any way, shape, or form. You'll see maybe one movie about the Cold War every five years, and none of them depict the soviet bloc in an excessively unflattering light. Gun-toting vigilantes used to be stock characters until the '90s, now you're lucky to get an Antifa version of the Punisher that does nothing but kill white supremacists, has a patchy basedjack beard, is jewish instead of italian, and costantly screams like an autistic child while he saves poor, innocent brown women and children from evil white criminals. Punks were the most common mooks in video games, now it's only zombies, aliens, nazis, nazi zombies, nazi aliens, and other villains the jews are comfortable with.

the moral of the story is if you see a nigger boat, blow it up before it reaches shore. otherwise you will have to deal with niggers for decades, they will infect your people, and turn you into a nigger. great cautionary tale, but they could have just said "niggers" and not spent millions on sfx and cockroach people.

A good two years since any news.
>>533510830
There has been consistent on/off rumors about a sequel since D9.
I think there's definitely potential there, although not as big a market as in 2009 anymore.
There's simply more sci-fi in total nowadays, since CGI+Greenscreen makes any amateur with a phone and computer a potential sci-fi short-film director.

Correct are the stories about the original D9 being a repurposed scrapped Halo movie, hence there was 'big-screen' appeal baked in, that they could even hold into D9.

I'd go watch it in the cinemas, if I happen to be aware of it, and I watch like three movies per half-decade nowadays.
>>
>>533519405
muh racism can't say le n word.
the problem is normies could watch this and understand the moral but they are so alien at applying it anywere else.
have you seen how defensive they get when the scare of having jobs replaced by Ai is there?
now change the script, "we are replacing jobs with third worlders".

see the problem?

the issue is easy to understand but they lack the ability to compare what they have recently learned and apply it to the real world.

I can make a movie about parasitic aliens that control the means of production and most aspect of society and give the cautionary tale of not letting them control society but then normies will not challenge the status quo and put to a stop the Jews
