Kids could be rude and troublesome but never of the violent and cruel type you would find in the UK. It was just this really nice welcoming environment. Lots of people had British ancestry so they would talk to you about that. The USA was like, the greatest place one earth. It was overwhelmingly White but even the non-Whites were friendly. Even the gun store guys were friendly. The cops were friendly, and would talk about revolvers and stuff and where they would carry their ammo. If that world is now gone, that is genuinely tragic and you guys in your 20s, man, you may have lived in the USA and never actually got to live it.
