The regime might as well negotiate and give up the nukes. They’re pointless anyways if the US can never invade them. The American people will never have the political will for it again. Better for the regime to survive and continue focusing on anti-aircraft weapons, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, financing Hezbollah and Hamas, and cheap drones than waste time on nukes

— President Trump on Iran:

As soon as we get them to no nuclear weapons in Iran, which is going to happen, I think, very quickly, actually—we've just decimated them—you're going to see prices drop.

You're going to see energy come down like you've never seen it before. All these things are going to happen.

After having the best economy in history. I said, "Well, we're going to have to take a little journey down to Iran."

That's the reality, and in a sane world I think we'd see a full US retreat from the area, as they should've never even gotten entrenched there in the first place.

However, at this point it's either taking the lumps as they've come, which comes along with a staggering failure of the US empire on a global scale, leading to a burgeoning multi-polar world which is absolutely something the US does not want, or, slowly dragging out a bloody conflict by sacrificing it's citizens to squeeze the idea of being at the head of a hegemony on global power just a little bit more before it inevitably loses enough power that it's forced to retreat.

I think the American economy collapses before this can even turn into a quagmire, more than it already has from his poorly conceived trade war and the energy crisis he self inflicted.

The 60-day timeline for the War Powers Act is coming up, and B*ssent is basically out of runway to manipulate the market to make things seem more normal than 50-60% gas price increases in red states over the last 6 weeks.

You keep doubling down on things you have no idea about
The plane is irrelevant, the callsign is everything.

Congress hasn't actually imposed on this war at any point, and I think they'll approve further actions. It's been talked up for decades at this point.

And there's many tricks they can try to play to sell the illusion of normalcy for a while, for example, the EO he just signed and linked to above.

But then when that won't work, there's plenty of tricks like super distractions, false flags, heavy social shaming, etc. to get the population on board with it.

I don't know how long it can last before a total collapse, but the thing to keep in mind is that the powers that be don't want a -total- collapse, they want something they can control. And complete anarchy doesn't suit them particularly well.

When the have nukes they can negotiate to lift sanctions.
Do you know that everytime North Korea is on the brink of food or energy crisis they'd just launch some missiles and then telling America and Japan to send aids or else?
Iran could lift all of their economic sanctions by conducting just one successful nuclear test or they'd send their nuclear warheads to Tel Aviv
>>
Ceasefire ends tom.
Trump will bomb bridges in middle of "negotiations".
>>
>>533555422
>Congress hasn't actually imposed on this war at any point
Trump is within his rights to fuck around for 60-days, but like with Vietnam a sufficiently irritated Congress can defund it and end military operations. The WPR formalizes that process.

>I think they'll approve further actions.
It's certainly possible, even likely. But Trump seems to be signaling TACO by not mentioning specific demands in his latest Truth threats (although he could have issued demands since I last checked). We'll see how much Congress feels the hotseat as I expect gas prices to really spike as we come up on 60 days before they're supposed to come up with AUMF for continued action.

>to sell the illusion of normalcy
You can't sell normalcy if there are odd-even gas rationing in the summer

>But then when that won't work, there's plenty of tricks like super distractions, false flags, heavy social shaming, etc. to get the population on board with it.
That's completely failed. There was no "rally around the flag" effect. I don't think they're capable of propagandizing the American people outside the shrinking MAGA cult into a war they've never really wanted.

It doesn't need to even be the end of the empire. The thing the empire needed above all else was a pivot to Asia. They could do that now, cut their losses and focus on competing with China. Every president after Clinton has tried to pivot to Asia only to get drawn in by "legacy" interests whether that's establishment neocons, miggers, or liberal/constructivist types.

Bailing on Iran now before getting stuck in another expensive and deadly forever war is the best outcome if your goal is to restore imperial America.
>>
>>533555847
The USA is not going to leave the middle east even if it causes WW3
>>
>The US can't win with air strikes.
>The US can't win with a ground invasion
It's over. The war ended the moment there was no revolution in Iran in the first days. What has happened since then is purely desperate last-ditch efforts. It's over.
>>
>>533555847
>What happens in America retreats from the Middle East?
Nothing good. Trump won't be able to run trillion dollar deficits anymore because of how quickly the sovereign debt crisis he created by spending like a nigger will come up. With that said, I don't think China wants a petroyuan yet (if ever), so they might prop up the USD to have a managed decline over the next decade.

>Because it seems to me like Iran loses nothing from charging tolls
They really don't, unless the world comes together to fast-track a framework similar to Turkish control over the Bosporus.

>bombing Tel Aviv
They can kinda do whatever they feel like, since they can match or exceed Israel at all levels of the escalation ladder - and basically match an Israeli nuclear strike (which would not be fatal) by cracking their desalination plants.

I think what Israel really needs to look out for, if the US withdraws from the ME, is a fresh and well equipped Egyptian army doing what it's been itching to do since Gaza, perhaps with Turkish support since Israel has been threatening Ankara because they're retarded psychopaths.

I wouldn't put it past King Migger and his DUI hire. However, I don't think it's possible. They don't have the troop numbers that were stretched by the 2003 Iraq invasion against a larger and better prepared military. Nor do they have the luxury of months to mass and stage while unmolested by fires. Then, when you consider that Schwarzkopf nixed plans for an amphibious assault on Kuwait because some ship hit a mine at some point in 91, it becomes pretty obvious that a fullscale invasion is simply impossible.

I hate to admit it, but same goes for Ben-Gurion. The whole world cuts funding for Israel tomorrow and they’ll just start lobbing missiles at their neighbors like North Korea for more funding. It’s too bad Chiang Kai-shek didn’t tell the US to fuck off and develop nukes anyways to keep the mainlanders away from his island
>>
>>533557345
Yes.

Although I genuinely wonder if nukes might be outdated.
They're supposed to be a deterrent, right? Yet Israel, which has a low threshold for using them (I assume), is still not using them despite getting bombed by Iran, and from Hamas and Hezbollah.
Ukraine targets Russian refineries and ports with drones on a weekly basis, and the threshold is too low for Russia to nuke them.

The same would apply to Iran. So perhaps they are definitely working on assembling a viable nuclear deterrent, or perhaps they understand the future is about cruise missiles, drones, AI, and having an industrial base to sustain this kind of warfare over the long run.

Ultimately they can probably do both, although obviously they have limited resources and must decide what to prioritize.

One strategy for them might be to negotiate a very hard bargain with Trump (a man of the cold war) to trade their nuclear program for a removal of every single sanction and restriction.

Iran has been very careful in their targeting and fire plans to avoid the appearance of existential threat to Israel. They've been avoiding desal plants for that reason, for example.

Tehran might be the most rational actor here.

The war is over. Many people just don’t know it or refuse to admit it. The U.S. should have put more effort into the uprisings but didn’t. Now it’s time to either keep wasting time in a lost fight or surrender, recover, and go after Cuba to try to boost morale

Difference between everywhere and Israel is that all of Israel's neighbours could lob missiles back and wipe it out pretty trivially. 20% is not that grave. The rest of the world can increase production by about 5% in 1 month conservatively leaving a 15% deficit. About 27% of crude is used for personal transportation and you can carve 10% out of that. The last 5% can come from a small decrease in industrial output.

During the covid crisis, crude utilization dropped by 29% in a matter of weeks. People will have to do remote work, cancel vacations, and do some belt-tightening, but a 20% deficit is not enough to get Trump to accept being branded a loser for the rest of his pathetic life.

No dude, this is an oil shock several multiples worse than the OPEC embargo. This is way more oil offline across the entire globe, and with infrastructure actually destroyed in some cases.

And the OPEC embargo sent the US into a stagflationary cycle for a decade where it had way less debt, and under-utilized oil in the Gulf of Mexico. And this already on top of a shitty economy from Trump's tarrif wars.
