The affirmative action-DEI era of the late 20th and early 21st centuries may have effectively made America into walking dead. I really don’t think people truly grasp just how profound this problem is. All of the data we have on our institutions and professionals, wealth and income, marriage and childbirth, everything is skewed in a more positive direction by the old guard. When you actually look at what’s happened you find every single intuition, profession, office, everything that basically matters has a bimodal distribution. It’s made up of the old guard of white boomers who stood idly by while they tolerated affirmative action and DEI initiatives that installed the younger mode made up almost entirely of women and non-whites. Look at any university, any law school, any medical school, doctor cohorts, lawyer cohorts, judges’ chambers, prosecutors’ offices, army officers, civil servants, banks, investment funds, architects, engineers, pilots, any of these careers essential to the peak flourishing of a civilization at its zenith. This whole civilization a glut of white boomers who passed on nothing and then everyone under 40-50 in a position that matters is black or female. White men, the backbone of this civilization, have been locked out of these institutions and careers almost completely. It would take years, decades even, to accrue the sort of experience necessary to really make contributions or even maintain efficient functions in these jobs. How is that going to happen when the people who can and should do it have been locked out their entire lives? Best case scenario we’re going to be in a situation where white men are in their 40s and 50s having spent the last 20-30 years wasting their time in dead end jobs. I’m really failing to see how it’s not fucking over.
Where do you live that the majority of professionals are black? 3% of doctors are black, 5% of lawyers, less than 1% investment bankers. Do you mean the post office and dmv? Yes people in the military get preference for entry level government jobs and blacks are overepresented in the military.

I got the highest score on the firefighter exam and didn't get the job due to affirmative action. My life would be completely different if I did.

Anecdotally, the only people I see getting hired in universities are women, the only people I see getting hired at venture funds are black men, so on and so forth.

You were discriminated against on the basis of protected qualities for decades; it was literal systemic discrimination. While it sucks that that happened, you now get to not care what happens to society. It's not your problem. You are free to leave, to celebrate its fall, or to laugh when it happens.
