Just for the love of god talk with VW or Volvo about rustproofing.
There's an abundance of those engines because the cars built around them have since returned to the earth.

Modern cars have to follow all sorts of regulation, are much safer and still use less resources.
You could probably crash a 1985 Mercedes into a 2026 Smart and the Mercedes would shatter like an egg.

Another problem is size. Almost nobody actually needs a car bigger than a small sedan, but even the smallest cars are now battleships compared to earlier versions (pic related).
A 1990 Honda Accord would be widely unpopular when all people want is SUVs.
>>

i can tell this brain dead zoomer never drove anything from the 90s. Most compact cars were <120 hp with 4-5 speed transmissions. Shit, go up in size to any BOF truck or SUV and they might top out at 60-70mph depending on drive train configuration. Some really basic models didn't have a/c. They fit the road at the time but you're going to not even be at highway speed getting on an on ramp before some mall crawler rolls you over. Yea, cars blow now but i encourage to get on FB market place, buy some normal non-meme non-performance car from 1990 and let me know how it drives.

My mother had a 1992 Accord. It was our family car. She bought it new with cash and we all loved it. A few years ago, some dumbass in a lifted pickup truck rear-ended her, resulting in the insurance totaling it. She regrets not keeping it and having it repaired, despite the cost of repair being more than the market value of the car. I miss that car.

100hp is fine for general commuting and shopping. We should require a higher class license for vehicles over 2500lb with recertification tests every 5 years, and such vehicles should be required to be manual only and no steer/throttle by wire so they're safer for everyone around them.

lancia is pretty cool. i gifted a Y10 to my then 23yo gf who was doing her drivers license, and drove that for a bit. it went 115mph and felt like riding a cannonball at that speed. my own car then was an e34. considerably smoother at higher speeds. i have no nostalgia for honda but like the body design. wanting the 90s back is understandable. i'd go for 80s myself.

It’s the law, look up shareholder primacy. Absolutely every for profit entity is required to aim for 12% roi for shareholders every year. As soon as hospitals went from nonprofit to publicly traded companies the cost of a broken leg starts growing by 12% a year forever. Something that perfectly scaled for 100 years compared to wages suddenly is skyricketing even though the procedure is largely the same. Why does a broken leg in 1990 cost $250 to see a doctor and fix? But today it’s $32,000!? You should be fucking outraged that shareholders demand a cast return greater profits every year. There is absolutely nothing in our system built to lower consumer costs.

Democracy is dead and has been for a while.

>2024 Pathfinder
>2004 restored 350z 6 speed convertible

I would take the 350 any day over the Pathfinder if I didn’t have to haul a lot of shit in it like lumber or landscaping stuff or groceries. It’s all analog no weird bells and whistles and alarms and shit just straight drive the bitch.

All this shit with backup cameras and lane departure alarms is because people are too busy looking at other shit than to concentrate on driving.

Don’t get me wrong the pathfinder is great in bad weather and hauling shit but on a nice day with nothing to do I’d rather be riding old school.

That’s not how it works in healthcare. The biggest payer is the federal government so they essentially determine the rates of everything from a dose of tylenol to chemotherapy to knee surgery.
Every insurer basically just looks at what Medicare pays and tells hospitals they won’t pay more than that.
You can’t charge an uninsured person whatever you want but you can’t squeeze blood from a stone. Most uninsured patients get care and just never pay any significant portion of it.
>>

Cars aren't cars anymore, they're tech items like phones or computers. This was an intentional decision to ensure they are outdated within their predetermined lifespan. This is crucial to keep the mass production of cars continuing and to ensure you keep paying them.
Old cars are too easy to fix and last too long, you can't be sold a good product nowadays because you won't be spending as much money in the long term.
>>
>>533602837

There were gas mileage requirements, iirc, so it wasnt just all old cars. It did take a ton of useful cars off of the road. It was long ago but the used car market never really recovered so I guess it deserves some blame. Even without it we'd probably still be in the same boat since we export a lot of used cars.
