I spent 3 months in an ICE detention center when i came through mexico to usa and asked for asylum. All we did was chat with a few guys and play cards. The TV was inaudible and the guard kept switching channels so you'd never finish watching a movie or a game. Worst part was there were 8 toilets, all metal, and they were all in full open view, so having to learn to shit while theres like 60 other guys around was a fucking experience. Food was also the most inedible pile of crap possible, and there were vending machines with overpriced drinks and snacks (like a honey bun was $3.50). After i got out i got a ceasar salad from some random airline restaurant and it was the most god damn tastiest thing i've had up till that point in my life, gave me some perspective. Also you could buy coffee in the commisary ordering but the only way to get hot water was to used the one shared microwave which always had a line.

Spent 6 months in county jail, then 3 months another time. County lock up is worse than prison. The limited movement, property restrictions, and lack of food options is much worse than state penn. I was able to have fun most days, but it's definitely not a place to wanna be.
