he seems a good pick. he's the engineer that's been in the hardware division for over 20 years. so i think we can expect a focus on good hardware.i will say this, the macbook neo he was in charge of, is a well designed unit, even repairable, but it was one critical flaw, there is nothing for cooling, just a little sticker. granted its a cellphone cpu of rejected iphone chips, so it doesn't get very hot. but i saw a guy on youtube replace the sticker with a cheap thermal pad, just a few cents, and he got much greater performance out of it transferring the heat from the cpu to the chassis via the thermal pad. it made a huge difference, and the chassis didn't even get warm because its just a cellphone cpu. granted thermal pads can dry out over time, and so can thermal paste, but i'd still prefer to see a little heat sink or something in there. you could use a carbon based paste for a little heatsink and that would last for years and unlock much greater performance.
