Eddie Bauer just closed down in my area. Brand names don't have the impact they used to. In a boomer v zoomer thread I mentioned how boomers care more about appearances than actually working, part of that was dress. I think alot of mid range appeal will disappear, and handmade luxury, single specialty brands, and cheap will be all that remains.

I fix road infrastructure for a living. I used to find thousands of dollars per year at the various things I'd fix. Now I only find a couple hundred. The big jackpots were always rollovers of drug dealers (especially when they're ejected because there's a clear hole for the contents of the vehicle to fly out) or just randoms that slam into a stationary object and become a field of debris and cash. Not like it used to be. Once I followed a trail of $20 bills over $800 for several kilometers.

RV’s

These things are insanely expensive, and sit unused for the majority of their lives. They’re one of the most frivolous things someone can own, and the price point keeps out anyone who isn’t wealthy. Even modern-day #VanLife stick to homemade and converted cargo vans (hence the name).

I blame Boomers for the price of trailers as well. My parents had a late-1970’s Apache Mesa pop-up camper. These things slept 7, had everything you’d expect, and had solid ABS plastic walls (no canvas). They weighed around 2,800lbs so any modern SUV could tow one. It was avocado green (because it was from the 70’s) and top of the line for its day. Price when adjusted for inflation: $12,000. You can’t even touch a nice camper for that. Not even close. The absolute cheapest ultralight Scamps start at $16k. A large 7-sleeper is easily $20k.

The prices skyrocketed as it followed the demographic buying them. Harley too. Yeah, it was luxury branding, but that wouldn’t have worked without a solid middle class of boomers who kept experiencing upward mobility until retirement.

It's a conundrum, I inherited this nice china after my granny (greatest gen). I figured I'd just use it on the daily, but since it has golden rims I can't put it in the dishwasher so it just stays in a cupboard. Best thing you can do for you kids is not to own a house full of stuff.
>>
>>533636217
RVs are junk because so many things can break. And its hard to access what does break because its all built in. Yeah RVs might seem cool if everything always works and nothing breaks but that's not how it works and boomers resell their old rvs and buy new ones all the time.

So when boomers go the RV buisness goes.

Harley Davidson (Hardly Ableson) is a solid lock to short their stock over the next few years. They have no interest in producing anything other than shitty boomer cruisers that the younger generation is totally uninterested in buying for 6 million dollars. Only boomers buy that trash and they already have their boomer cruisers. They are also dying off or getting old enough to be unable to ride so that junk will be hitting ebay en masse. Spit on their grave.

Chinese invention of paper money is super funny by the way. The Song dynasty invented it and then inflated it to oblivion in very short order (for a medieval society). Yeah, because woolen laundry balls that great grandma used lasted longer, dried clothes better, and made clothes softer and fluffier than coating them in a a chemical that is so flammable that firefighters are prohibited from using it.
https://abcnews.com/US/fabric-softener-contributed-girls-nightgown-flames/story?id=16686421

I don't know how, or when, an entire generation was duped into using fabric softener to the point where the machines themselves added a reservoir specifically for it.

Due to some cancers and old age everyone in my family is dead except me.

In the span on 5 years I have inherited like 40 sets of fine China. Countless nice metal sets and so on.

The issue I'm not alone the entire generation is going and their possentions are being dumped on the market rendering them utterly worthless for anything but retro style house decoration.

Every last Sunday we have a fair here and it's full of old peoples stuff and nobody is buying it. Month in and Month out I see the same sellers selling the exact same stuff for what I consider too much but in reality it's probably 90% or 95% of the items original prices.

>>
>>533637779
Exactly. I'm a millennial, so I'm not quite sure what Zoomer dining out habits are, but I know Boomers gave us hate in our 20s for cutting into the profits of shitty chains, because when we could afford to eat out, we went somewhere nice and made it a treat ( kind of the point of eating out imo) and avoided the goyslop chains. That's still pretty much how i do things, and Boomers rage that that's one of the things we spend too much money on and why we can't afford houses. They're really ornery now that they're retired on fixed incomes and can't afford the small luxuries. Whereas we can afford the small things but will never own homes.
>>
>>533638394
Asian food is assmeat covered in candy sauce. Absolutely disgusting. The reason it is thriving is fat gaymerz eating it for the sugar and salt content and having no clue it’s the chicken’s armpits stored in a broken walk-in at 60 degrees cooked by Chang the Diseased because they have the shits constantly anyways

It’s horrendous what people go eat. I tried to go out with my white trash friend and he said their was a new great Asian fusion restaurant and it was the same shitty dirty place with rub and tug music on and the same sugary salted ass meat made by dirty Chang.

I only go to steak houses and only rarely. Even those have become Millenial slop houses outside the high end. I just want a large hunk of meat cooked properly not a 4oz steak and some apps and boiled in a bag sides.

Fuck it all. I seent people crying about McDonalds being too expensive but then the two i drive buy are always busy.

Millenials have no taste and the boomer let everything become hollowed out but let it roll to keep up appearances

Ironically this both true and false.

>Killing Beer Industry
Everyone had enough of the watered down mass market slop that tastes revolting so everyones witched to drinking less but drinking craft.
>Killing Vacations and Tourism
Killing the tour and boat industry because you can book a flight to Asia or Europe and stay there for like a month for the same prices but usually less.
>Car Industry
They can't afford anything but 5+ year old used cars
>Home Ownership
Same can't afford it.
>Fashion
More like old stuff, the brands didn't adapt
>Movies
Netflix killed that
>Wine Corcks
Considering most people drink cheap 1~3 year old wines they're not needed
>Sitcoms
Yep we did kill this and I'm kind of sad about it. But it wasn't millenials it was the progressive holywood elite that coudn't stand the concept of the family
>Religion
I'd actually blame the boomers for this, they still had the idea of what Religon should be based on their parents but they didn't have any faith and didn't take it seriously so most people grew up as Religion being treated as nothing more then a set of traditions. There also a good case to be made in Asia specifically Korea and Japan where only about 10%-15% of people just like in Western Christian societies are religious and care about their local faith and traditions where as most of the population coasts by treating it as traditional guidelines.
>McDonalds
They killed themselves by becoming corporate cubicle restaurants devoid of fun and then raising the prices by 600%, fast food restaurants are not the places you bring your kids to these days
>Home Depot
They made everything unfixable, every tools you have it too complicated to fix without specific knowledge or worse tooling. So yeah DIY only works if there something to Do it yourself.

It's funny you mention that because, compared to your boomers our made like 500$ a month from 1970s-2000s and they still did this.

I look at my stuff very differently from my grandmother and mother who kept telling me one day this will all be yours, very stereotypical I know. They treated these things as heirlooms or something. And since I have a very big house that I inherited I didn't sell any of it, it just sit there looking pretty, but I have my own hobbies I'm a massive weeb. But I am 100% fully aware that my figure, manga and so on collection has no worth.

20 years ago I bought this figure for 100€ it was incredibly sought after and one of the best looking ones out there.

Today you can buy it used for like 30€.

Most things are worthless and only care value if other people want to spend money on it.

I went to the titty bar a couple times in the late 1990s and it was boomers paying some girl my age to grind on them. Chris rock had a joke about no sex in the champagne room it was so sterile. A lap dance was like $20 and you couldn’t touch.

I was driving across country last year my hotel was by a nudie bar, so I went. It was like a whore house. The traditional strip club of boomers like Howard stern stuffing dollars in a thong is dead, but paying $200 total for a night to have a nude girls go to a spacious booth hidden behind a curtain with full contact with zoomers with bad dads is sure to survive.

>It's really hard to imagine just how much disposable income boomers had to accumulate this much worthless crap in their giant homes that they bought on a single income unskilled job
Every single boomer that wasn't a complete loser in life (severe alcoholism, multiple divorces, etc ) has millions of dollars.

Simple, basic high school drop out factory jobs in 1980s and 1990s if they utilized employer retirement schemes they have $2 or $3 mil in stocks now.

Yeah, had mya boomer dad genuinely offended that I took a look at the menu online, saw the standard steak, pork loin skewer, salmon fillet and cheese-stuffed portobello mushroom that you get at 90% of places and just declined the offer to go out to dinner. Like, I'd rather pay for my own food as long as it's actually interesting.
>>
This is why the boomers say "skip starbucks". They really did put $8/day into retirement accounts and because s&p was up like 10% for 40 years, that $8/day really did turn into millions of dollars.
>>
>>533639740
They also do not understand inflation, $8 in 1980 is like $33 today.

I always thought that until I went to Japan.
Ads in my country or Germany or US never worked on me.
I simply has zero emotional connection to these brands and what they represented.
They always targeted such broad groups and I coudn't care less.

Then an anime girl went to places and went to camp.
I then proceded to visit most of the places she went to and bought most of the gear she used.

I don't know if it's good or bad but she uses some pretty good gear so at least I can't complain that I was misled.
>>
>>533639740
Plenty of people did the math, in terms of homeownership and buying power of homes.

Todays minimum wage would have to be 60$ to have the same buying power as theirs had at the peak.

Sure other things were way more expensive back then. Owning a big good Color TV with a VCR was sometimes more desirable then a fancy home.

I inherited a solid gold Rolex. My millenial coworkers were babbling about watches and the younger girl with big tits that would adjust her shirt and angle to give you a view knew all sorts of watches and I said I had a watch. So I bring it in and the watch dudes and boobs girl are drooling It’s nice I guess and super heavy but worth a ton to watch faggots.
>why don’t you wear it?
Because I have a clock on my phone. It was nice to know it’s with a middle class salary but why the fuck would I wear it? To make boob girl wet thinking she can hump me and get access to my stuff? For Tyrone to cut my arm off to steal it? To make middle finance managers jealous? Nah, just put it in the safe and go back to forgetting about it. I had read a few years back that old watches were declining and thought nothing of it as it was a gift to a relative from a very wealthy guy he worked for for 40 years

American and West European eating out is so different from Asian it's crazy.
And even Eastern European.

We have a serious quality problem. There like a Gap. You have fast foods or poor foods and then you have expensive restaurants there nothing in between.

Most restaurants in Japan,Korea and China are McDonalds tier prices with medium or great quality food. No tipping but they're not a social experience. You go there you eat it's over. And the costs are about what it would take you to make it at home plus 10~15% it's really economical and makes sense you don't need to clean the pots and pans, chop the ingredients, clean the dishes, spend money on the cooking.

Sure there are communal dining experiences too but they're positioned in another price bracket that designed for that kind of experience.
They simply have so many more options.

A lot of it comes back to the price of labor and other overhead. Same kind of places exist in Latin America, roadside or other hole in the wall eateries that serve basic menus at prices less than fast food. But as you say it's not an experience or for socializing, it's simply to eat. It's just becoming impossible in the developed west to run a place like that because of the cost of labor and compliance. Our societies are so over regulated and overtaxed

>Considering the material costs of actually shaping and molding Titanium.

Westoid cope from seething companies like Toaks (made in china btw lol). There's a half dozen different companies selling titanium shit on ali that is really nice. Boundless, Widesea, Lixada are most popular and I have a spread of their stuff. Same goes for all outdoor gear, not just titanium. Lanshan makes amazing tents and a half dozen different companies make awesome camping mats. Think about it, does a sea to summit inflatable pool floaty camping mat REALLY cost $150+? obviously fucking not.

If you are buying camping gear from anywhere except china, you are getting robbed blind. Only exception is DCF tents (DCF is under a patent which china won't disregard for some reason) and frankly that material has proved to be non-durable despite all it's other sick properties.

>Todays minimum wage would have to be 60$
What do you do for work, how much are you earning, and how much is minimum wage in your country?

Not really comparable.

I work in IT. I make about 3000€ thats incredibly high for Croatia.
Minimum wage is about 1000€ here. 1170$

With my nice 3000€ I can't buy a house in the city I live in, I was walking past realestate agent yesterday

35 m^2 Apartment for 135k€ City Center
27m^2 Apartment for 150k€ City Center
150 m^2 House on the outskirts of the city(only 100k population city mind you)270k€

270,000 devided by half my wage so 1500€ is 180 months thats 15 years. Add to that loan costs and realistically it's 20 years.

The issue I'm 35 years old and I started on a wage of 500€ and crawled up over 15 years to get to 3000€. So there no fucking way I could have gotten that loan when I was say 25 years old when it would have made sense.

Now as I said above due to various sicknesses and old age I actually inherited my house so thats not an issue to me but if I didn't have that LMAO.

Mostly agree with this assessment .
Home Depot and Home improvements killed itself when they loaded an entire store
with cheap chinese junk that literally broke in 3 months.
Nobody wants to do DIY whith cheap chinese junk that breaks and it makes 0 sense to do anything yourself .
With stuff like electrical or plumbing you really don't want DIY because you don't want a cheapo chinese junk to burn your house down, or have floods.

>>533640692
I see, so why are you concerned about "minimum wage" that literally nobody earns on the other side of the Earth?
You could buy a fixer-upper in the country for less than 3 months of your salary right fucking now. Your problem seems to be that you NEED to live in the hustle and bustle of the big city but aren't economically competitive with the hundreds of thousands of other people who also want to live there.
And of course this is all the fault of people born in the 1940s on the other side of the planet from you somehow.

Food of course is a goyslop poison in fast food places like McDonalds, Wendys, Subway, etc.

so a jeet is more useful than you?

...that's not a good argument

Why do <50 IQ people bend over backwards pretend the absurd size of government + central banking isn't the entire issue and the root of all the problems?

It's so simple too... the math isn't even that complex. Retards figured out with Trump's tariffs... you add a little cost ---> it shows up in prices. Add a LOT of costs ---> it shows up in prices a lot.

Aid to Israel
Wars
LGTB ministries
Pakistan Gender Programs
Literal scams
Endless nonsense regulations
Simple government inefficiency 10 guys to do 1 guy's job

government has grown non stop for decades way above industrial capacity, somehow... this utterly simple logic escapes the goycattle mind

I think people hoping got a large retreat in classic cars will he sorely disappointed.

People keep predicting this but values keep soaring to new highs.

No doubt car culture isn't what it used to be. But the pool of classic and vintage cars also shrinks over time. Carfagging can become smaller and smaller as a % of the whole without causing the classic car market to fall apart.
