The number of immigrants living in the European Union rose to a record level of 64.2 million in 2025, according to a report published by the Center for Research and Analysis on Migration, cited by Reuters on Tuesday.That's about 2.1 million more than a year earlier. Compared to 2010, when the figure was 40 million, this represents an increase of more than 20 million over 15 years based on Eurostat and UNHCR data.Germany remains the country with the largest number of immigrants, with nearly 18 million people born abroad living there. About 72 percent of them are of working age.“Germany remains the main destination for migration in Europe—both in absolute terms and relative to its population, However Spain saw the fastest growth, with the number of immigrants reaching around 9.5 million.” said Tommaso Frattini, one of the report’s authors.
