be me>part of my job is I have to interview candidates for coding job>never really wanted or cared to do it>most people are unremarkable, normal dudes who I could get along with just fine>get a resume slid across my desk yesterday>its full of buzzwords like "led company wide diversity initiatives", "advocated for safe spaces for LGBTQIA folk", etc.>oh no.jpg>get morbidly curious and look at LinkedIn>it's literally like /pol/s memes brought to life>(They/Them)>legitimately can't tell if they're trying to be trans>every obnoxious stereotype imaginable>wouldn't be surprised if they were part of an anime catgirl commie discordnow... I try to put all of my personal political prejudice aside and hire the best person for the job regardless of their background. I really do want to try to exercise fairness despite expecting none if the roles were reversed. However... it sounds like if I go ahead with this person I'd be willingly inviting a cancer into the organization. This person absolutely sounds like they'd be a nightmare to deal with ON PAPER. I'll do my best /pol/, but what would you do in this scenario?
>>533645225I dump those resumes every time. Never hire them.
why is there a person looking at resumes? its so you can exercise personal judgement
>>533647640its a stage two interview lol I didn't screen any of these candidates, just doing my usual prep before I spend an hour talking to these people
>>533645225YOU will be fired asap for more diverse candidates if you do. That's your shit test right there.
If you hired from the first 5 candidates you would have had an employee all this time. Hiring processes are a joke.
>>533645225If they tick the boxes I think you are legally bound to hire them?If the have the relevant skills and work experience I mean. Not sure of burger employment laws so I would imagine if two candidates have the same skill set etc and one is brown/trans/mong etc - they get the job over the White guy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXXFBWMHU6A
>>533647775>stage two interviewThey're going to have a weak spot. Every technologist does. Find it and focus on it. Then express concern in your written assessment.
>>533648069I have the ability to discern if candidates are acceptable and if they have the skills to be meaningful contributors to the team and project without friction. I can basically say anything to justify hiring/not hiring anybody and there's no law in the world that can prove I'm doing it out of discrimination. that's what hiring is! you discriminate the shitty people from the good ones.
>>533645225>what would you do in this scenario?use my access to this "person's" personal information to anonymously harass them until they kill themself
>>533645225>try to be fairThat is the wrong approach. You should be very selective and judgemental, that is your job when hiring people. Someone looks bad on paper? Throw that thing out, never interview them. If they can't give you a resume that is completely retarded, you toss it and move on>t. I've hired and fired people
>>533647775STAR questions. You're dealing with a narcissist with other various pathologies. This is what STAR questions are designed to screen out.
