Her ideas relate to economics, like Flat Earth relates to Astronomy.Her books put these philosophical overtones on economics, to the point it takes a religious feeling. These books don't cause rational thought, but rather "religious feeling" that certain principles are correct. Those emotions cause people to act irrationally. They will stick to their guns, and stick to these principles, to the grave. You often find people in government positions in the US, such as Paul Ryan, who deeply believe in Ayn Rand principles, and so they justify all sorts of harmful anti-environment, pro-big business legislation. In their mind, they know what they're doing is wrong. But their actions are driven by a religious fervor, a sort of madness. These philisophical movements don't engage rational thinking, but are deeply emotional, and activate the religious center of your brain.

I don't think you should be reading anybody because you are looking for a fucking Messiah to follow, or to be somebody's disciple. And if you go into it with that mentality and you end up fucking your life up, that really isn't Ayn Rand's fault, it's yours, and you obviously have some karma to work through.
