I believe it was Thomas Jefferson that said you have to be no more than 1/16th black and you must be at least 3/5ths central or Western European Personally I think you need to have a direct ancestor that was here and contributed to the founding period (pre 1812), and have basically no non-European lineage past great great grandparents.
