im thinking anyday now. what do the gardeners of /pol/ think? are you even planting a garden this year?
>>533734309>How much longer until trump turns on gardeners? Why would he do that, do you suppose? Is he even aware that gardening is something people do? Probably thinks you buy tomatoes from the mob-racketeering restaurant supply place. How much does George Soros spend on your VPN, paid shill?
>>533734441>How much does George Soros spend on your VPN, paid shill?me? im not a paid shill, i want to talk about garden politics. trump already blew up the worlds fertilizer supplies, it only a matter of time before he comes for my water and food.
>>533734309don't worry he has some toxic aerosol to contaminate your soil
>>533734565Trump is a Jew. What do we expect? He did the vax. Next he'll nuke the food supply. He is a Jew.
>>533734883i add tons of charcoal to soak up the chemicals so my plants dont uptake them
>>533734309>>533734309I'm growing corn and cannabis.
>>533735128my pinto beans are coming up nicely
>>533734309I've spent so much on black kow this year and drought is ruining us I refuse to put nasty city water on my plants, but my well can only do so much especially in a drought So yeah. Got a garden, but it's full of plants for now, not crops. Gotta keep the soil healthy. Grow plants, burn em in fall, winter rains correct the pH, ready to go by spring next year.
>>533735471that suck, im sorry bro. if you have city water and are too stupid to use one of the many simple and cheap ways to make it garden ready then i guess youre too retarded to make it. rip
just planted three perrenial fruit trees: one pear, one apple, one plum
>>533734309How do you guys protect your gardens? Most of my enemies are botanists.
>>533736624thats awesome, my plums and peach got hit with a late frost after they bloomed.
>>533735238I'm always out of mulch so the toad stranglers get dirt on the leaves which kills the seedlings
>>533736684>protectchicken wire fence topped with electrified barb wire for deer and raccoons.neem oil and sals suds for insectspunji sticks for humans
>>533736624>just planted three perrenial fruit trees: one pear, one apple, one plumBeen ordering my rootstock from Cummins Nursery, but I didn't realize that they also offered the pear rootstock I want (OHF87) until they were out of it this spring. Next spring, I'll get that and their Mahaleb rootstock (I've had poor luck growing it from seed). And going to be ordering UCB-1 pistachio seed for rootstock this November. And my olive trees are almost large enough to start air layering.
>>533736756bummer>>533736897nice works in progressi figure ive got three years before these three start making fruit
>>533736897i have 4 plum trees and only one produces fruit so far, next year im going to try to graft branches from the tree that produces onto the one that dont. any tips?
>>533737072>i have 4 plum trees and only one produces fruit so far, next year im going to try to graft branches from the tree that produces onto the one that dont. any tips?I've tried to graft 3 times in my life, and only had one success (though it was the last one). It seems to be a matter of picking the perfect day to do it (which sounds dumb, but hear me out). The bark has to be waking out of dormancy just enough that it slips. The sort of graft you choose to make also probably matters alot, since it cam maximize the cambium contact (this is mostly theoretically for me, n=3 after all). There are cheap tools that make that whip-and-tongue cut off Aliexpress/Temu. Cost about $13. I haven't tried them yet (will be next year at the earliest). I've found that growing avocado pits is the best way to have something to test your grafting skills on where you don't care if you fuck it up. Just grow two pits, and when they're pencil width, you can swap the two tops of them (it's just for practice, doesn't matter that it's pointless). Mangos might also work, those fuckers grow like weeds. Good luck to all of you.
>>533735238I'm glad you have chicken wire to protect your beans from chickens.
>>533737549did you use grafting tape?
>>533735033can you protect yourself from the gmo pollen?!?! what about the air dropped ticks?!?! your roof better be blue!
>>533738069i live out innawoods so i dont worry about gmo pollen. gmo's are not available to the home gardener and there is no farms around me. i do worry about the other two, i got a grey roof 5 yrs ago but today i would 100% get blue
>>533735238why is your soil so stony?
>>533737929>did you use grafting tape?Yeh. Where I am, it's probably mandatory... too dry, don't want the cambium to turn to dust and blow away in our wind. Where you are, if the humidity is reasonable or even high, it supposedly can cause problems. Don't be afraid to fail. You're not trying to make one graft in your life and get it right on that first try. And once you learn it, teach it to someone else. Plan on doing this at least a few times, every year of your life. Hell, try it on trees people don't normally do it with... if there's an oak in your backyard, cut a small branch off one side and graft it on the other just for shits and giggles. Get good at this. I need to take my own advice, because I'm not (yet) good at it.
>>533734565india is not the world you retarded jeet.
>>533734565>i want to talk about garden politics.Fuck off
>>533734309Turning on gardeners was covid nonsense, anon. You're 6 years out of date. I'm growing asparagus taller than you.
Soon enough. He's already fucked up with miners, farmers, and protecting nature/animals.
>>533739391because it has alot of rocks in it and i havent got them all out, my native soil is literally 50% rocks
>>533739391Not everyone lives in the black forest nigga
