FANG has done it in front of the whole country for the last 2 years and every time they have layoffs it coincides with an increase of the H1Bs they request and a surge in job postings in India. Even the medium size company I work for has done the same thing; bought us copilot licenses and RIFed a bunch of tech staff 3 months later only to rehire 1.5x the number of employees in India.Every time, we're told it's because of AI and productivity gains. No - it's because corporations are hiring more jeets. Anyone who works with AI knows it's a nice tool to have and can sometimes save you a few minutes and very occasionally save you a few hours, but overall it's nowhere near even a 10% productivity boost unless your job is so braindead that it probably shouldn't exist in the first place.

>>533742948Every time we try to implement AI we realize traditional automation would be better. It does do well in some areas where we don't care about 100% accuracy but those are niche. Basically it's really good at writing reports nobody reads and also generating code for non critical applications. Like most of the time your workflow needs to be so specific you're better off using AI to hard code the heuristic. Otherwise it burns a lot of tokens doing absolutely nothing.
