Most games suck these days
It actually has nothing to do with being woke
It's because...
1. gains from technology have slowed to a crawl. Remember the 90's? We went from Super Mario World to Mario 64 in 5 years. 3 years after that we had dreamcast. We went from 2d sidescrollers to online 3d games in the same time it takes to develop 1 game now.
2. Partially because of the above, there's really been no new mechanics in the last decade, at least in big budget games. Indie games have borrowed some mechanics from board/card games with some success, especially in the deckbuilding realm

And just to follow up on that, great games don't require novelty, but novelty hugely lowers the bar in terms of what it takes to impress gamers
Very few games that people widely consider to be great actually are great after breaking them down to an abstract level (think games like Go and Chess)
