There might be a banger game waiting to be made by a smaller indie team that could be serviced by a smaller live-service model that won't get the chance to run. But this doesn't affect EA or Nintendo, retarded people will play any live-service slop that Hoyo puts out, and it will absolutely make millions of dollars. It just makes the risk to access that higher. How much higher does it make it? Probably 20%. But 20% is a lot when getting the funding for a game is already gonna be a 10%, those extra millions of dollars make and break companies and games. That's a lot more money a company will have to ask for in the case that things go south, and at 10% interest, if your game takes 5 years to break out and you got it funded for 20M, well you're gonna pay 6-7 million in interest alone, that's a sizeable and meaningful portion of money that would prevent financiers from taking a gamble. So really the only big winner here is big companies, small fries once again are raped.
