I don't know what the new NPS orders say specifically but I doubt there will be clear cutting, that's already exceedingly rare for the FS out west. I don't think National Parks should really be selling timber (the USFS absolutely should as it's our mission statement) but they absolutely need understory thinning to help prevent catastrophic wildfires.Thing is this administration obviously has no fucking clue what they're doing. They are pretending to fix problems by reorganizing multiple agencies and talking big about logging, but they're completely oblivious to the real problem which is massive amounts of dense worthless small trees from over a century of poor forestry practices. It takes an emormous amount of money to thin that material out especially when diesel is over $5/gal. The administration has done absolutely nothing but take away money, personnel and resources from this problem. A lot of the west is going through a really poor log market right now too so logging is not a real solution.
