ITT we post news showing the feds fighting back.

Applied to federal government in 2024, and just as the Trucker Convoy prompted the feds to lift Covid restrictions within a week, after 3 months of delays, the feds are using this approval to quell secession sentiment. But let's not forget:
Keystone XL - 15 years, incomplete.
Transmountain - completed after government bought it, estimated cost $5B, actual cost $30B.
https://globalnews.ca/news/11815564/federal-government-natural-gas-pipeline-expansion/

General info:
Alberta collected 177,000 signatures required for a secession referendum.
The referendum will happen Oct 19, 2026.

And it doesn't matter anyway since you can't unilaterally leave Canada. All the provinces have to vote on it if the referendum goes through. Unfortunately you're not going to have your poverty landlocked sovereign state.

canadians are fundamentally rotten people

the core of his country has always been rotten in a way, we are the only country in the new world that has never wished for independence, we are the only ones who stayed as a loyal lapdog to the bongs. fundamental cuck mentality. never met a nice person from here. there are more indians every day.

Will the Laurentian Elite really invoke the Emergency Act if there's really a referendum?
>>
>>533791005
>The “unilateral” nature of the act is of cardinal importance and we must be clear as to what is understood by this term. In one sense, any step towards a constitutional amendment initiated by a single actor on the constitutional stage is “unilateral”. We do not believe that this is the meaning contemplated by Question 1, nor is this the sense in which the term has been used in argument before us. Rather, what is claimed by a right to secede “unilaterally” is the right to effectuate secession without prior negotiations with the other provinces and the federal government. At issue is not the legality of the first step but the legality of the final act of purported unilateral secession. The supposed juridical basis for such an act is said to be a clear expression of democratic will in a referendum in the province of Quebec. This claim requires us to examine the possible juridical impact, if any, of such a referendum on the functioning of our Constitution, and on the claimed legality of a unilateral act of secession.
You're actually so retarded you haven't even bothered to read up on judgements given by the Supreme Court on the matter. Stop pretending like you know anything you larping cocksucker, you're politically retarded.

None of this precludes anything.
Just a bunch of cope.
Bunch of cope words.

Also, federal laws apply to people wishing to stay.
Yes, they will make arrests - that's incredibly risky, though - do the feds want to arrest Albertans, then deal with the fallout from the country of Alberta, with picrel oil reserves, and an America who already wants to annex us, and us rescuing the arrested from you commies?
>>
>>533790976
Many possibilities. Envy. Jealousy. Crabs in a bucket mentality (("Hey Canada sucks shit, you have to suffer with me instead of leaving and finding better success").

Then there's the people who say it's somehow "bertraying Canada" yet they can't really define exactly what that means. I guess since taxes paid for some roads and railway construction 50 years ago it means we owe the federal government something or something.

Then still there's easterners who think we're being bought & paid for by MAGA/CIA/TRUMP/evilCorps to break up Canada. If our movement is being funded covertly I want to know what the money is being spent on because so far there's no real evidence that big money is at play anywhere.

The pro-Canada petitions have more than a million signatures verified by Alberta elections, and you faggot can’t even get 200k. You’re going to get slaughtered at the polls. Also: BC and FNs are going to get any of these pipelines built. Also 2: Trudeau, not you cons, spent $35 billion of Canadian taxpayer dollar to build transmountain: say THANK YOU JUSTIN AND ONTARIO AND QUEBEC

I don’t disagree but my point is you’re going to have an extra rough time trying to separate when all your cops report to HQ in Ottawa. Once again, I support the idea of separation I just don’t think it’s possible politically or practically. Quebec separation was scuttled and that made even more sense and had more popkilar support than Alberta leaving.

That, actually, isn't true. The vote wouldn't affect Alberta's sovereignty, but the new Canadian constitution sans Alberta. It probably could delay it, but that alone couldn't stop it. Same argument why the Natives don't have a legal leg to stand on either, Quebec Sovereignists already brought the question to a panel of international constitutionalists and they all said lol no to the tribes. Otherwise the Feds could indefinitely bind Provinces to third parties without any input from signees.

Then why the fuck are you advocating for the very definition of a bureaucratic solution? What the fuck dude are you trolling me?

Absolutely wrong. Both the Supreme Court and the constitution mention unilateral succession being impossible.

Liberal voters exist.
Federal election by 2029 - Carney building a pipeline now would make it a 2029 issue.
Alberta is already gone, prepare yourselves.

> The Supreme Court
Yeah, they got it wrong. Which isn't surprising, since they have a duty to defend the integrity of both the Constitution and the legal system, which Alberta was directly attacking.
Unilateral secession doesn't mean what you think it means, moron, that's an Act of Parliement, essentially the first plan the Quebec Sovereignists were supposed to go with, and an admitted liberal plant convinced the leadership a referendum would have more legitimacy.

What? You genuinely make no sense

Sure. Without getting too into it at length I think that the separatist urge had more to do with the demographic makeup of Southern Alberta than actual concrete grievance, not that there aren't problems in the federation. but in my read The demographics in southern Alberta especially have created a population that is wired to despise collectivism and government in basically all its forms at an almost genetic level. The Ukrainian diaspora came over after the holodomor have spent generations equating their trauma under Stalin with all forms of even mild socialism to the point where the trauma is directly attached to their identity in an inescapable way. As far as the Dutch, the idea is basically the same but more tied to their loss of control in South Africa creating a lasting trauma they can't escape, coupled with a form of Christianity that treats hierarchy as a paramount cultural anchor that also includes a brand of easy race realism that lets them feel justified in anything they do so long as they are the ones doing it. It's maybe not a complete theory at this point, but the longer I look the more I see it. As you said quite correctly ideas do have ethnicities.

Again totally and completely wrong.
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-31.8/section-3.html
>It is recognized that there is no right under the Constitution of Canada to effect the secession of a province from Canada unilaterally and that, therefore, an amendment to the Constitution of Canada would be required for any province to secede from Canada, which in turn would require negotiations involving at least the governments of all of the provinces and the Government of Canada.
I don't know what you get out of this, the text is raping you right now. Is that what you like? Humiliation?

Oh yeah, first thing you learn into Law School, especially Constitutional Law, absolutely isn't that you shouldn't trust the text itself.
Mate I know half a dozen retards like you who failed their first class because they didn't by Lebrun's book for the notations.

Yeah now start arguing you cowardly halfwit. You don't like when the supreme court makes a ruling and sets precedent, you don't like acts passed by parliament. Are you just retarded?
>>
>>533795734
I don't like when the Supreme Court makes a (very self-serving) judgment that goes against a well established principle of Constitutional Law, as set by a panel of international councils nearly 40 years prior. And also completely makes any constitutional changes a complete clusterfuck, if it was properly applied.
The Clarity Act should be despised by anyone except whatever few elite cunts that actually profits from the current state of affairs.
