then facebook comes along and converts everyone over to a plain, boring, soulless corporate model devoid of creativity and individualism. It's so bland even boomers start to join. fastforward nearly 20 years and most people are barely active at all. they might post once a year, or haven't posted at all in years. only keeping it to contact old friends if they ever need to. Half of my friends are dead, MIA, alcoholics, or settled down and had a family with a bitch that never would have had a chance with them in their 20s. the other half are professionals doing it big with furbabies(mostly the trust fund kids.) Was there ever a cultural shift in history as seemingly overnight as it was for millennials and to a lesser extent older gen z? the world is nothing like expected. tech hasn't even gotten that much better in most fields since around 2010, not like you would have envisioned. the west is like some shitty hybrid system of china and the old days. where tech integration into everyday life like shopping is half assed and inconsistent. people spend 75% of their free time sitting at home online, but have to go into the real world for shit like renewing a license. it's as if our system is one foot in and one foot out the door of the chinese model, but with none of the advantages. competency crisis is a real thing that we're seeing the fruits of right now. most people spout state-funded propaganda and opinions despite limitless self-searched information at their fingertips, and online anonymity to post freely what they really think. humanity, at least the west has truly regressed into some alternate timeline.
