He could not cut welfare as planned because trickle down meant a race to the bottom and people losing their jobs, by the end of Bush first term the deficit had ballooned out of control.

Because it never made sense in the first place. Rich people don't start new businesses and employ people because of they have an excess of money, they do it if they think they can make a profitable business. Giving them more tax breaks and money didn't create more profitable business opportunities, it simply gave them more money that they hoarded for themselves. Secondly, the richer they are the more power they have. The more power they have the more control they have over their wage slaves, i.e. they can pay them less because they have more leverage. What's the wagie gonna do, go to the other fat cat that's also paying their empolyees table crumbs? Giving to the rich has never improved the living standards of the poor, and it makes no fucking sense when you give it even a minute of thought. How so many people fell for this is incomprehensible to me.

at some point we are going to have to reconcile with corporate greed in relation to rising productivity.

we've reached a point where those with generational wealth/property, or even those who simply luck out like elon and make a single thing that makes them a fuck ton of money, are then able to leverage these things in tandem with a global economy, cheap labor, and automation in a way where 1st world white worker value becomes completely worthless. This directly explains why median wage has COMPLETELY stagnated yet the rich continue to get richer (browns dont care as much about stagnating wage. they are willing to eat 2$ biryani with their hands and live in a shack with 10 of their relatives)

there needs to be a very real conversation about "excess" and at a certain point, maybe that 11th yacht you were going to buy, that money could have actually gone toward fixing a communities potholes or maybe even funding some sort of UBI program, and then we should also have restrictions on h1jeets and automation

>>
>>533859812

it did. poor and low income people in the US are better off than most places. This is why millions of people still try to get into the US and get some trickle down. Rich people don't only hoard money they use it to buy goods and services that people get paid for.
>>
You remember Supply and Demand curves from econ 101?
There is a supply and demand for human genes. Because of our technological society, the genes that code for a low skill worker are not in demand. So their wage goes down, relative to that of a high skill worker, or capital owner. Plus by increasing low skill immigrants, you increase the supply of low IQ people, thus driving down their wages even further.

This is a combination of immigration suppressing wages, with technology suppressing wages.

Now it must be said, the final economic output is superior. With the free movement of labor, the expansion of technology. The economy is more efficient, so at the end of the day, more is produced on-net. The real issue is, that while some items can be drastically increased through multi-factor production, like keyboards, paper, sneakers....etc. The same is not true for all items, which scale linearly with population size. Thus, their price does fall in the same way.
In particular: Education, Housing, and Medical Care. In these 3 areas, supply scales linearly with population size, (or even a fixed supply, as with housing), and so in these areas the poor are forced to bid against the rich and come up short. Those 3 items are what kills EVERYONE! That's your $50,000 debt right there. Immigrants get those 3 things subsidized, so they can take advantage of improved economic efficiency, without bearing any of the consequence.

the post-1970s global economy is Financialized, the official Phase 1 was completed 1999 with repeal of Glass-Steagall, after which the global investment banks became casinos. Thatcher and Reagan are the initiators of that two-decades-long Phase 1.
As already stated in my post (You) replied to, the disenfranchising of entire west was due to globalist no-borders neoliberal policies of offshoring the west's productive manufacturing assets and infrastructure<--this in addition to the shoveling of all corporate capital into buybacks of their own stock (rather than using profits to improve their own actual product output/manufacturing capacity upgrades). 'Trickle down' was just a marketing campaign (spun off from Laffer) it doesn't describe the myriad aspects and phases of the post-1970s Financialization of the global economy that is still occurring ongoing rn.
the Real Economy of goods-services-commodities globally is now entirely separated and walled off from the Financialized global gigacasino where all of the world's wealth is generated (now, 1980s-later) from speculative debt instruments.
For most transnational corporations their own product/service might as well not exist (look for example at Tesla: never turned a profit in two decades existence) at all; the only thing that matters is making money—as much return as possible—*off of money itself alone*.

>"The real money to be made in the world today is not by producing anything at all. It's simply by forms of speculating — basically making money from money. That's the most profitable, and by far and away the biggest form of economic activity that exists in the world today."
— Nick Dearden, quoted in the film '97% Owned'

No dude, that's how it works. That's why the rich keep getting richer. And it's why the those 3 items in particular are getting so expensive compared to everything else. It's why people feel poor, even though technology is so much better today.

Au contraire, trickle down was a resounding success.
The Rich got amazingly richer,
and the Poor increased exponentially.
Milton Friedman even wrote a book celebrating it.

People who live in those artificial environments go completely insane over time. They become totally detached from the real world and get all kinds of mental issues.
There is an optimum level of consumption and development. Not poverty, not excess, but medium.

It never works. Netflix has a 25 billion $ cash surplus and does stock buybacks. You're never seeing a cent of it "trickling down" because the whole economic system is centered around capital and asset owning. The moment labor stops being more valuable than capital, no amount of pleasing rich people is going to improve the rest of the population's economic status.

All the time I witness this exact same thing
>arrogant city dweller is confused about a basic or well-known fact
>person from the country knows all about it and tries to explain it
>city person arrogantly dismisses them
>country person is exasperated and somewhat bemused
I have literally met someone from the city who didn't know what the stars were. He looked up and saw things in the sky, and didn't understand what he was seeing.
I have talked online to a city dwelling jew who didn't know how fire works. Literally, they didn't understand that wet things don't burn. They thought fire is like a magic spell that consumes anything that touches it.

People from the city are not only incredibly insulted, they are often incredibly ignorant about the world. They have a huge category of mental illness and are on too many prescriptions to count. They make modifications to their own body since they're completely detached and living in a state of unreality.

Same thing Aus. People in the city are entitled as fuck and so clueless here. Millenials will post about how they did it 'rough' growing up in government city housing when those same houses are now worth 1.5 million. Meanwhile millionaire farmers in the country side live in old wooden houses from 1900 not giving a fuck.
