One possibility is that various forces are gearing up for limited/partially honest UAP disclosure, and various people possibly involved with the project who might have disputed the narrative needed to be removed or contained in some way. I favor this but can't really articulate why other than it just feels right. Maybe they want to lie about the nature of our interactions with them, or how they behave towards us, things they've done to us that governments can't protect us from, etc. As events like "drones" appearing all over D.C. and other major cities become more commonplace, the era of being able to totally obscure it is coming to an end, so maybe they just need to reveal it in a controlled way that doesn't include the things that might lead to people demanding action that the government can't actually take and is afraid to attempt.
