Outside of that, Russia is just a paper tiger; it might have been fearsome in the 80s, but after 30/40 years of poor investment and deprivation it's military power has collapsed. The only thing I have trouble wrapping my head around is what Putin hopes to achieve after all this time, certainly there's the sunk cost fallacy but idk what he could get out of a hypothetical victory that would be worth this cost

Why doesn't NATO just invade Kaliningrad? If NATO is actually serious about defeating Russia, wouldn't this totally surrounded little nub of land be the first thing to conquer?
