That's nearly a million dollars you have nothing to show for but a couple hundred thousand in equity in a house you can't afford. Assuming you actually did something useful enough to command those bigger salaries, I'm surprised you never made enough impression in the industry or with a co-worker or supervisor that you're not getting job offers though. All the guys I know who are good at specialized skills get a few offers a year.
