>>533969867Actually, those are small enough to stuff into a transport airplane, so it's perfectly feasible that they flew in helicopters, landed on their improvised airstrip only to get their transport planes hit by artillery or drones or anything at all really. Or they could have snorted dust into their engines and broke down or whatever.This leaves the mini helis stranded because not enough range to make their way out.

This was a technique US spec ops developed in Afghanistan, they can get in and out and set up a FARP and use the helicopters to actually complete the mission, then load them back up and take off leaving nothing behind. I think in this case though they got spotted and got fucked up with mortar fire or something and had to bail. They were trying to seize the uranium to take that off the negotiation table, and also probing Iran’s defenses for a ground invasion, along with rescuing that pilot.

The plan to sieze the Uranium certainly existed, but actually doing that would require the establishment of a base there, then flying in experts to handle the material.I think that what actually happened is that they drew up that particular plan, but they never got the green light for it because someone realized the plan is fucking retarded.So when that pilot got lost, they urgently repurposed bits and pieces of that plan into a new one.They figured a quick in and out might be more feasible than staying there and hoping they don't get rolled over with tanks and howitzers.And it was bad, but not a complete disaster, probably.
