What are the most significant new words and phrases with which we discuss politics?
For example, this thread is about what's sometimes referred to on this board as "newspeak", though I don't think this term is commonly used beyond this board.

Slop.

Via is a new word and I hate it. Use by instead.
>>
>>534013742
woke
christofascist, islamofascist, etc.
>>
>>534013953
That's a good one. How would you define it?
>>
>>534013742
'Goy' entering the public zeitgeist seems like it's becoming a big deal.
>>
we havent used "statist" much the past few years
>>
>>534014074
Woke is good, but that more than any word I can think of seems to mean very different things to different people.
Appending fascism to other words may be a newish trend but I don't think it carries much new meaning.
>>534014308
That's okay I guess, it seems to basically be a replacement for sheeple, which as far as I can tell is almost never used anymore.
>>
>>
>>534014512
>Woke is good, but that more than any word I can think of seems to mean very different things to different people.
it almost universally means socially progressive and usually also implies neo-marxist

new for 2026: masterclass

always disliked: change/control the narrative.

and when you here the word "several" don't you mentally think seven(ish)?
but it can be three or four. that's a lot less than seven.
>>
>>534014639
Maybe this is partly on me for not having a very clear idea about what those terms mean.
Still, I think woke can mean inclusive, non racist, compassionate, etc.
>>
>>534013742
When I was a kid woke meant exactly the opposite of what it means today. It used to mean wise to Jewish and government schemes, now it seem to mean to be faithfully adherent to such schemes. What a time to be alive!
>>
>>534014879
>Still, I think woke can mean inclusive, non racist, compassionate, etc.
'Woke' people think those things need to be enforced, either by government or by society. Obviously you can be a compassionate non-racist person in your personal life and not be woke.
>>
>>534015060
So you say but I think others would say otherwise, which is my point. I think a lot of people using it don't mean the same thing by it, which to some degree is true of all words but this one is particularly confusing.
>>
>>534014639
I remember when woke meant nooticing
>>
>>534013742
black "people"

That one always makes my skin crawl.
>>
>>534015269
I have never heard someone use "woke" to refer to someone who is non-racist or compassionate in their personal life but isn't obsessed with forcing their views on others
not even here
>>
>>534015382
I have, but to be fair I think I more often hear woke used in your sense of the word.
I don't like referring to one-dimensional politics but I guess what I'm saying is that it's been sort of appropriated by the right from the left.
>>
>>534015660
sort of like neo-nazis appropriating "based" from black people
>>
>>534015729
or hetrosexuals using "redpilled"
>>
>>534015729
Based is a very good one, not very new but I see it everywhere, used by just about anyone.
I think it generally means something that you like or agree with and/or someone you're talking with share your opinion on.

>>534015954

Agreed...on both points.
>>
>>534015954
I just remembered that bluepilled used to be a thing on Reddit. I'm not sure if it still is.
The idea is that people of a general political persuasion saw their political enemies using the term redpilled and so called themselves bluepilled, not because they thought themselves ignorant but because it's the opposite of redpilled.
It was kinda dumb. There were also purplepilled people.

"Kyiv" is the most offensive newspeak to me, it was always known as Kiev, no one called it Kyiv, but the instant the war started they called it Kyiv, it wasn't even to deceive you it was about saying "We control language, and therefore your thoughts, not you, and you better know it".

No. To hell with you. The capital city of Ukraine is KIEV. And it always has been, go ahead and execute me for telling the truth.
>>
>>534016647
Redd*t... not even once.
which brings up the whole overused asterisk replacement on common words deamed currently offensive or triggerable.
and i fucking. hate the overuse of the word "literally". i noticed it is pretty much a feminine way of speaking.
You literally can replace the word "literally" with the word "like" in any statement that uses the latter.
now you realuse they are talking like in 1980s Valley Girl speak
>>
>>534017871
I don't really care about literally even if it's misused, but I agree that that that the c*nsorship trend is very obnoxious; I say it's not just overused but should never be used at all.
In that same vein I guess we could include adding quotations where they don't belong like this anon >>534015334 did, along with adding multiple sets of """quotations""".

how does 'statist' describe John Wayne Gacy

>John Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 – May 10, 1994) was an American serial killer and sex offender who raped, tortured and murdered at least thirty-three young men and boys between 1972 and 1978 in Norwood Park Township, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. He became known as the "Killer Clown" due to his public performances as a clown prior to the discovery of his crimes.

>Gacy committed all of his known murders inside his ranch-style house. Typically, he would lure a victim to his home and dupe them into donning handcuffs on the pretext of demonstrating a magic trick. He would then rape and torture his captive before killing his victim by either asphyxiation or strangulation with a garrote. Twenty-six victims were buried in the crawl space of his home, and three were buried elsewhere on his property; four were discarded in the Des Plaines River.

>Gacy had previously been convicted in 1968 of the sodomy of a teenage boy in Waterloo, Iowa, and was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment, but served eighteen months. He murdered his first victim in 1972, had murdered twice more by the end of 1975, and murdered at least thirty victims after his divorce from his second wife in 1976. The investigation into the disappearance of Des Plaines teenager Robert Piest led to Gacy's arrest on December 21, 1978.

>Gacy's conviction for thirty-three murders (by one individual) then covered the most homicides in United States legal history. Gacy was sentenced to death on March 13, 1980. He was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center on May 10, 1994.
