Homer in his Iliad and Odyssey calls upon a deity spirit to tell him the story. According to newer knowledge (AD) these spirits are demons that are mischievous and lying and the practice of calling them is divination which is a sin. Homer must have been an oracle of the time.

So from Iliad and Odyssey what is true historically (actually happened) and what false? Excavations have shown some evidence or not so much?
