If gods exist by any measure, it's a very "pick yourselves up by your bootstraps" mentality on the table. You have to build your eternity and obtain it through scientific merit. Nobody is going to hand it to you just because you beg for it or create arbitrary hurdles to jump over that do nothing of consequence towards actually improving anything.
