If you scrub your nether regions and legs and pits with soap every day, which you should be doing anyway, you will almost never miss a tick. Even if they're buried in you, it takes a long time for them to infect you so you're usually good when you pull them out. I've been working in forestry for almost a decade now and I've only had one tick (Lone Star) that I missed long enough to get a rash. Didn't get any side effects from it. This shit is overblown. It is a bit harder with deer ticks which are smaller and harder to find but still doable if you just use your fingers to search. I've had them biting everywhere from under my foreskin to between the toes and in my ass crack and never had a problem.
