Iran has transferred 15 unexploded US missiles to "technical and research units" for reverse engineering, according to Iranian media

This includes a fully intact GBU-57 bunker buster that failed to detonate during strikes on Iran's nuclear sites.

I don't mean to sound stupid but I'm pretty sure it's basically impossible to reverse engineer without exacting NSNs and some form of technical data. There are simply too many variables to copy and I'm sure we have failsafes in place so enemies cannot ascertain any pertinent information. Just another nothingburger

Is there really any advanced tech in this that China doesn't have already? It's just a big heavy bomb designed to go through concrete. We were making them in WW2.

Iran doesn't have the air force necessary of deploying bunker busters. Their missiles are already leagues ahead too. So who cares?

I know that Iran got its drone guidance systems from reverse engineering a captured American drone. Being able to jack its signal and capture it was a feat already.

>The most famous American weapons system Iran reverse-engineered was arguably the Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel drone. Tehran got its hands on one of these advanced, stealthy drones, which has a flying-wing design, that strayed over the border from Afghanistan and landed in the country in late 2011. Iran has since built local derivatives such as the jet-powered Shahed 171 Simorgh, which bears a striking resemblance. Since 2011, Iran is believed to have built at least five radar-evading drone models, attack and reconnaissance variants, based on the RQ-170 design.

>>534054746
The B-1 stealth bomber is Cold War tech, it's way obsolete now. They can have it.
>>
>>534054871
Even if the technology isn't new, it will be useful for the Chinese and Iranians to understand the penetrating power and characteristics of the GBU-57s are so they can design their hardened shelters around it.
>>
>>534054906
Anon, those are all precision weapons.

yeah, you take the hardest type of steel someone can produce
give it the optimal shape, the maximum weght thats practical to transport by multirole fighter/stealth bomber
multiply it by the speed of said bomber, and boom, you have an estimate of the capabilities of your adversary

its nto much of a win, and most of the guidance systems are old shit from 20 years ago. yes, because fiduciary obligations, and r&d doesnt come cheap (yeah, mid 2000's were alr 20 years ago)

Every weapon is an improved 80s weapon. It has always been bad like this, and it will always be like this.

Also, when the US first saw the chink jet, they laughed about the dual jet propulsion system, claiming that China could not produce a good enough jet.
Now the US is losing a jet every single trimester because 1-1 is 0, and nature was right when it decided that critical functions should have a backup.

>>534055268
im baked
i mean: long range- theyre corss referencing.
thats how tomahawk already worked in the 80's.
inertial guidance/telemetry + gps data + terrain data + visual recognition of target for the final approach
you wont be jamming that, you can only make it less precise by obscuring the target

short range?
inertial guidance + telmemetry programmed by the plane at the moment of launch
wont be jamming that either

things get funky when you try to target moving targets though
thats where radar/visual/laser guidance comes into play
with distributed systems but i think all armies have fire and forget capabilities now

although yeah, kikes *are greedy
and usually american weapons are used on people barely out of the iron age

We actually saw this happen in the recent Russo-Ukranian war.
America sent a lot of their "Desert Storm" weapons to Ukraine during the Biden administration, and they got in shock when they learned that Russians were using simple GPS jammers mounted over trucks to disable them.
Obviously, those were already outdated, but the modern stuff is not that much better than that...

Operation Epstein Furry was rushed.
Bibi showed up at the White House for a sleepover, pulled a USB flash drive out of his back pocket, and asked everyone to watch his presentation.

yeah, plus the iranians did get bombed to a certain extent
with the fog of war we cant ascertain the extent of the damage

i think they stockpiled spares instead

in 2015, when I was in uni. My company decided to pivot into marketing by building those retarded kiosks.
The idea was simple: while there was no one around, it would display ads, and in the moment someone stood in front of it, it would close the ads and show whatever interface the business wanted to show (mostly it was just a "how was your experience so far?" tier of crap).
I made a version using python and opencv that every second took a picture of the camera and looked for faces in the image (keep in mind that we are talking about a very old Raspberry). It worked for the demonstration, and we started to ship them.
Then came the complaints.
It did not work with black people.
It did not work with fat women (this one is still a mystery to me).
It sometimes acted like there was someone in front of the thing even if there was no one (this caused a cleaning lady to believe the place was haunted and she quit).
When people realize that the software used "face recognition" (as, recognizing it had a face), they freak out, claiming we were stalking people

TL;DR it was a flop. No one used it; the ads were annoying to the point the people working there shut the machines off, and the hardware limitations of 2015 were a huge deal making it feel very laggy.

Computer vision is a scam.

>>534056803
beginner mistake:
you use only one input
what you should have done, is to use a distance sensor which can tell you how many people are in front of it
then run your cv on pre-selected areas of the image

and you would need a much less complex ai, since youre not relying on it to carry everything
only discern traits and expressions
just what opencv was designed to do c. 2015 iirc

use multi input and cross reference data, so that your data becomes exponentially easier to process

You need to understand the biggest constraint.
It was supposed to be cheap...
We manage to build it for about the price of a decent computer (not a gaymen PC). The most expensive part was a really cheap touchscreen monitor from AliExpress (the kind you actually need to press in, not the tablet tier of touchscreen). Anything else we tried to add would make it too expensive to be viable for a third-world economy.
Looking back, it probably would have worked out if the economy had not colapsed in 2015...

I was using a 1Mpx camera without any kind of stabilisation to cut corners. (Similar to the pic related, but unbranded). And the thing that we fixed all the hardware with was just a laser-cut sheet of metal that we had to manually bend because shipping it pre-bent would cost too much.
Also, I don't think your IR beam would work if the place had direct sunlight.

You are over-engineering something that should be the cheapest possible to be viable. Sometimes you don't need to make it better; just cheaper because at the end of the day, it was just a glorified pamphleteer showing ads.

i did mention that id use an auto door sensor in the end
you should be able to get some for very cheap.

the mission is basically just to detect if someone wants something from the stand
so you use such a sensor, set it to, idk, scan 1m20 from the stand
and give it a half a sec timer
boom. done

i overengineered it bc it thought

>>
>>534059375
actually actually-
3 sensors, each set/limited to only cover a 60° sector of a circle thats 1m20 or so
if sensor senses someone is within a sector for more than, idk, 1,2 second? then activate special mode or whatever
this way you make the difference bw someone just walking by, and actually looking at the thing

if you have money for a touchscreen, even in a 3rd world economy you should have enough for a couple autodoor sensors
