The "education" requirements can be skipped completely if you get in good with the right people. Even if you are autistic like me, a few PLC or IT classes at the local community college is all people really want to see on your resume. The real catch is personality. You have to be tough enough to survive on your own. Its very uncomfortable at times. But you also have to be smart enough to read, code, and not kill yourself. There's lots of retards that are tough enough, and there's lots of nerds that are smart enough, but there aren't lots of people that are simultaneously smart enough and retarded enough at the same time.

That being said I dont see my company or others hiring newbies very often. Training someone is a big commitment and companies get burned out by it. My advice, call instead and ask to job shadow. Say you wanna get into the trades and would like to ride along and help keep the jobsite clean for the day and see what a typical day is like. I bet you will be well received (I've agreed to do this for 2 people this year). Once they get to know you and see you're interested, you've already begun a relationship. Ask some questions about how you might get started in the industry and if they'd consider helping.At the very least you gain some experience.
