IS this inhumane or the answer to all of our problems? People complain about crime in the United States, and lax prison sentences. The reason these unfortunate circumstances occur is because our justice system is overwhelmed. Despite having more prisons than any other country on earth, we still dont have enough room for all of our criminals.Cecot was designed to house as many prisoners as possible as efficiently as possible and anything in-between is disregarded for the sake of efficiency. Something has to change if the United States is to continue existing. You cant keep giving out weak punishments like house arrest, and long ass trials, and we literally cannot continue our current style of lockup where every inmate is treated as a valuable person. The math ain't mathin. Eventually its going to lead to problems and irreparable damage, possibly even the death of the United States. Our justice system is old, ancient even, and its not equipped to handle the current demographic make up in the usa. As a proud American I will dogmatically assert this reality above all other because it is unquestionably the biggest problem we have in the United States today. Its also one of the most ignored and most difficult to repair. It needs to be addressed, and soon.
