I have heard that tattooed men tend to convey an image of being strong men, capable of withstanding pain and being socially dominant. The thing is that almost 9 out of 10 men I see on the street are tattooed. Is being tattooed some kind of social engineering that has been applied to men, or is it an obligation in 2026 to be a tattooed man?

They started getting them en masse as female psychology is about upward social movement, so if the attractive successful people are doing it they should too. Then they started desiring to see men have them because it’s an “attractive” trait that, as you said, broadcasts toughness. Basically they hijacked women’s desires who then enforced the new social norm on everyone else.
