It was easy to meet women. Bars were busy and cheap. Fast food was fast, cheap and tasty. You could afford to go out, at the weekend, without it ruining your finances. Video games were still peaking. Movies were peaking. Music was peaking. The economy was peaking. House prices were still somewhat reasonable...Everything was better, at least in this country, 30 years ago. Post internet, post 9/11 and then certainly post 2008 recession everything has steadily gotten worse. My small rural town, in the last 5 years, has gone from poor but ethnically homogenous and safe and pleasant to resembling Mogadishu. It's all fucked.
